Since I'm about a kilo away from being a lightweight I was just wanting some clarification on my Nonathalon scores and rankings.

I'm assuming that for the Nonathalon I'll have to 0 everything out, change to lightweight and then rerow everything, is that correct?

Same goes for C2 ranked pieces?

Thanks

Jeff

I have a related question regarding age brackets. In a few montms I will reach age 70 (hard to believe). Will my ranked pieces need to be rowed again to establish a new set for teh older age group?

john

i'd say for the lig htweight heavyweight question, your pieces should be rerowed because simply you had the weight advantage at the time you rowed those pieces.

not sure about the age question though.

Congratulations on reaching these weight and age ( ) milestones.

As for nonathon or ranking, the relevant question is what were you when you rowed the piece in question. As such, until you row as a lightweight or a 70 year old, you have nothing to enter. C2 rankings will take care of your age, I believe. As for nonathon, you'd need to create a new ID or alter and zero out the old one.

BTW, to be a stickler and adhere to race guidelines, you'd have to weigh in as a lightweight 2 hours before you row your piece. I wouldn't go nuts about that but it is what you'd need to do at a sanctioned erg race.

Happy erging,

Neil

Re the weight change: I rerowed my stuff when I turned lightweight. It was a lot of fun seeing how I compared to a whole new set of other rowers. Lots of motivation forsure.

Re the age change: I got flamed badly on the forum for changing my age on Nonathlon when I had my birthday.

It seems the Concept2 rankings will change automatically, and are calculated in 10 year increments.

The Nonathlon does not automatically change. All the Nonathlon stats are done year by year on participants' ages on May 1. So, you have to stay a 69 year old on Nonathlon til next May 1. You are only being compared with other 69 year olds now, and when you are 70 you will only be compared with other 70 year olds.

grams

Grams,

Congrats on making lightweight.

The nonathlon age thing could easily be sorted by inputting your current age with each entry.

That way each entry would be based on your =current= age, rather than a year previous to when the times were accomplished.

I agree an age 70 rower doing all times at age 70 should have times based on age 70, and not age 69.

From the Register page on the Nonathlon website the age line has this description:

Age 1 May 2005:

Kind of subtle but that is the what it asks.

Unfortunately there is an age box on the Profile page that says nothing about the date so it you go there and update your age you won't be reminded that it is your age as of 1 May. I thought Paul was going to clarify that a bit better but it hasn't happened.

Frank

John, when is your birthday and have you ever changed your Nonathlon age on your birthday or on May 1?

I did what you said should be done and got flamed pretty badly by several forumites. At that time everyone agreed that the Nonathlon is based on one's age as of May 1. That included input by the Nonathlon webmanagers too.

grams

Grams,

No I have never changed my nonathlon age and all my times have been at age 59.

Why would anyone flame you for putting your correct age? That wouldn't make any sense. Maybe they were concerned with you kicking their butts.

I know people agree the nonathlon is written up as being based on May 1st. Heck I agree that it's written that way too, since it is. However the only honest way is for people to put their correct age at the time they completed a ranking piece that they're entering. It would not be correct to put an erroneous age. I seriously doubt they added or subtracted years when they came up with the formulas.

Thus I think everyone should use their correct age, at the time they have completed the piece being entered, and would certainly never flame you for doing so. I also don't recall that ever being brought up on the forum although that wouldn't change how I feel.
