Hi,

I used to row in high school, forty years ago, and am interested in buying an old model-B. (I want to investigate a Concept3 idea, by revolutionizing the Concept2 on a fundamental and revolutionary point which the Vermont designers somehow missed, which I just can't get out of my head! The first prototype will require a fair amount of hacking, so I may as well hack up a less expensive model ...)

But, I have no space indoors, so I'll have to store it on my deck. I'm not fettered much by "imperfect" things, so a little grunge, or extra maintenance, etc. won't bother me. Will outdoor storage and usage harm a model B, other than possibly cosmetically?

Thanks ...
The main thing is to prevent any water or moisture from getting to the machine, thus keep it covered and well protected.

Concept sells a cover specifically designed to cover the erg.

When I lived in an apartment in England, I kept my erg on the patio covered with plastic garbage bags. The fan cage still rusted a little, but the rest of the erg stayed in perfect condition.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

kept my model B in a large covered patio in south texas for most of a year some time ago. picked up a fair amount of dust, very few small rust spots. otherwise none the worse for it. i'd not evan consider outside without a good solid roof however
