there have been a few requests for features to be added to the ranking... one new one has to do with more "split" info (log results and ranked pieces). I'll work on this.

The most common request however has been some sort of 'people finder' function to find someone's ranked pieces. Give this a test drive and reply -

http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/peop ... asp

thanks
-bill

I think it's very useful to show the rowers age, and if I was particularly diligent I could eventually work out a person's dob I guess, but just listing it feels like revealing personal information.

Cheers, Paul

good call paul. i thought about that too - i'm going to modify it so that it shows only year - i have to show something because there are so many duplicates for any given last name dob helps sort them out...

-bp

I love it Bill but do have one question. When I enter my name in the search it comes up with three John Hendries, all presumably identical. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a flaw in my basic data?

john

It works well Bill.

Any chance that the go button could be shown next to the rowers name in the ranking display as well ?

E.g. I could click on the person higher up than me in the 5k rankings and instantly see all their other ranked times as well.

The icing on the cake would be to see my times as well next to the chosen rowers.

Nigel.

Great, Bill! Wonderful to have that capability. Thanks!
It does create one potential problem - you may have to hire someone to field all the duplicate name inquiries. In my case there are three entries - one of the dupes is a CRASH-B entry wherein my age is one year off and another is an entry that has an extra space between first and last names.
One suggestion - a link on the Rankings display to go back to the list created with the original search (in case the name you chose - especially in the case of dupes - is not the right one.
MM

QUOTE(c2bill @ Apr 18 2005, 09:45 AM)

there have been a few requests for features to be added to the ranking... one new one has to do with more "split" info (log results and ranked pieces). Bill,

I have a question. Clicking on the "GO" provides the ranking entries for the present (and earlier) years. Is there a way to connect to the individual's profile? I note a member with the same last name as mine and wonder how I might connect to him, through the people finder or some other method.

john

I just checked my profile. It is nice to be able to pull up the best from past years! (Actually, it is a bit depressing. )

There are six "Paul Flack" entries. One is real and has good data attached. One is from GBR, one born in 1959, and one old fellow born at the turn of the previous century. The 105 year old Paul Flack has fantastic aerobic capacity as he can still pull a 6:32.3 2K! Go Gramps!!!

The GBR entry has no data associated with it. I am sure it is a hold over from three years ago when I was living in the UK.

I don't know where the 1959 dob entry came from.

One of the other 1956 dob entries is probably from my old address before I moved four months ago. It has no data associated with it and should be deleted.

Maybe the other 1956 entry was from when I had a different e-mail address. It has no data associated with it and should be deleted.

I suspect that the old fellow born in 1900 was somehow entered by RowPro. I had a 6:32.3 time entered with my RowPro profile. I think Old Paul can be burried too.

Overall Bill, it looks like you are adding a nice feature.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

It used to work. Maybe when they deleted "Old Paul" they deleted the entire erging virtual universe?

Cheers,

Paul Flack
