Hello everyone. This my first post here and I'm curious as what you think. I teach PE to 7th & 8th graders. We have a fitness lab where there are 30 C machines that have taken extreme abuse and still keep going. I'm now thinking about purchasing a rower for home. I've seen other (Kettler Coach etc) magnetic machines and wonder what your thoughts are about them - Air vs Mag. Any and all imput is welcome Thanks!

First question is, where is a high school that has 30 Ergs located? That's amazing.

First answer is, How could you consider anything else but the Machine from the same manufacturer that you have witnessed "serious abuse" against, but it keps on working? A C2 for personal use will likely last longer than any of us need it to.
I have a Model A that's still perfectly servicable, oh yeah, and a B, C, and D; Gotta Evolve sometime.

Cheers.

I live in New York City. There are schools here where they can't even afford decent textbooks or one modern personal computer let alone a 'fitness lab' with 30 Ergs. Well, I guess no one said life was fair

The funding came from a grant we wrote a few years ago.

I unterstand the comment: How could I think of anything else. . . . I do agree these machines take a kicking and keep on ticking (I've heard that somewhere before I'm just curious about the difference between air and magnetic machines? In my heart I've already bought the "D" machine. Now I need to figure out how to sneak it into the house w/o my wife seeing it. Ideas?

Well, I'm ordering my "D" machine tomorrow. I can't wait to get it. I hope my excitment continues after rowing a few meters. Otherwise, my 3 dogs and I will be looking for new digs after my wife gives us the boot!

I used to belong to an excellent gym in Cape Town, but the rowers were always broken. No idea what models they were.

I went shopping for some new equipment at the end of last year.

I have 5 children aged 15 to 22 and 1 x Sports Art treadmill and 1 x Spaorts Art recumbant cycle. I am the only one who likes the bicycle, so everyone wanted a turn on the treadmill.

My daughter had used a Concept2 at school and fortunately we took her with when I went shopping. She kept pressing me to buy a rower and I kept saying no, they always break down. The salesman heard our argument and showed me the Concept2. Says they never break and all the scholls use them.

Bought 1 plus a home gym plus a sports Art cross trainer. Should have bought 2 rowers. I love it. The PM3 is great and the Row Pro software is excellent.

I have lost 7 kg since Christmas. Only 19 more to go.

My family is complaining because of my ne love affair with the rower, the software and this website.

I now want to row and train online using Row Pro.

You chose wisely

Since you are in Costa Mesa, if you are insterested you should check out Xeno Muller 'Iron Oarsman' training camps. You are right on his door step.

I bought the both DVD's and found them very helpful.

GoRow
If you have 30 ergs at the school, the best motivation you can have is to hook eight of them together on RowPro and have workouts where the kids can see each other on the screen. Oh, the possibilities for fun! You could download Lisa Schlenker's lightweight/female race and let all the macho males have a go at keeping pace. If some of them manage to keep up until the end, download Gorgina's race and let them knock themselves out!

I live in a fairly affluent part of Boston and took a tour of my daughter's future middle school. I don't recall seeing 30 ergs. They have a pool, a robotics lab, an incredible art studio, but no ergs? I am sure that it isn't due to lack of funding. Maybe there is a lack of understanding. I will see what I can do to rectify the situation next year.

Cheers,

Paul Flack
