Advice On Fins Needed!

Hi,<br />I have recently orderd a Fillippi F14 custom built and i asked for it to have the Knew Carbon fin. I have heard that this fin always gets torn off in the water or caught up in weeds? does anyone else have this probem?<br /><br />Thanx

Any fin will get caught on weeds or torn off. The weed problem is universal, gotta stay away from em no matter what type fin. As far as getting torn off, the fin itself is not as important as how it is structured and supported in the boat. Fillipi is a very reputable company and I am sure that it is a very good attachment. The only reaso to have carbon over aluminum is to save weight. They are of equal strengths and stifnesses. I do not know much about the fillipi fin so maybe someone on here will be able to offer some better insights as to the difference between the two. But as i said, I don't think the type of fin is going to matter as to the type of problems you are looking to avoid.
