42195 Meters...tough, Very Tough.

It was alright for the first 13Ks. Then it got tough. At three occasions I wanted to quit during the piece: At 29K to go, at 19k to go and at 13K to go. The last one was the toughest. In the first third I was rowing at an average of 1:44.5, each drinking break I took was about one hundred meters long and cost me one tenth of a second in overall average. My first water break may have been too far into the piece...at 30K to go. Then the next one was 5ks later. After that every 3Ks. until 17k. From 17k to 4k it was every two thousand meters, shorter breaks. At 4K to go I didn't stop anymore, I saw the end coming and it was bitter sweat...
I will elaborate in the newsletter.
And YES it was DONE ON THE SLIDE!

Congrats Xeno! I recently completed my first 1/2M and the last 2K almost had me. I can only imagine what it takes to do another 21K after the first.

Good Job!

Steve

Fantastic effort Xeno. Makes no differance if it was on slides or not, still a fantastic effort.

You won't get me doing one

Well done

Sir Pirate

The worst pain when I got up was in my glut muscles, I felt so crippeled.
I am going to look into how Marthon runners pace their effort. At one hour forty seven minutes I hit a wall big time. I must have run out of carbs in my body by that time.
Xeno
www.gorow.com

Amazing effort. I've done a few half Marathons but don't ever intend to do a FULL marathon

Awesome Xeno! What was your stroke rate and drag setting most of the way? Also, did you lose any weight from this single row? Fantastic job.

-Don

Congrats, I still say that the first one was the hardest. (of course my first one took 4 1/2 hrs....)
Once you get used to them they're really not that bad, I promise. Damn, I'm just about to break into name calling, so I better stop and remain polite.

Thank you verybody.
Now I can walk again too. My resistance was set between 6 and 7, I didn't check the drag factor. I rowed the marathon because there is a ranking for it. This explanation may not hold water for a few people including my own family.
I was going to row with Grandslam this morning but the rain threw a wrench in his commute to the Iron Oarsman. (here in SOCAL when it rains it slows EVERYTHING down)
Thanks to lactate testing, I know I can hold my steady state rows at around 1:45 per 500m (with or without slide) for a while (staying at the aerobic threshold), but going beyond the two hour mark without a minute stop here and there is TOUGH.
With or without slide...the butt hurts.
I am not so good in short distances. The world record for five hundred and thousand meters seems unreachable for me. They are human-rowing-rockets.
All my best
XENO
www.gorow.com

Stroke rate was around 25-26. The last 8k I was rowing at 28-29 with far less power per stroke, I was running out of fuel badly. In the last 1000m I rowed around 32-35, no power per stroke.
