I am a newbie to rowing(just started about 3 weeks ago) and I had a question for all of you expert/novice rowers out there who may have some insight.

*Skip past brackets if you want*

[Just as a background, I used to play football, basketball, run track and some cross country. I decided to get into rowing because it is a time competitive sport like track and cc and it also requires explosive power such as in football and basketball.]

I frequently row on a c2 indoor rowing machine at my college. I want to begin rowing in the water and am a bit uneducated with everything there is to rowing in a scull(i probably stated that wrong because I don't know all of the rowing terminology). I have kayaked and rafted on whitewater (in addition to canoeing, which really isn't anything), so that is all the background that I have. Does anyone know of any ways I can get started with real rowing? BTW I am from Atlanta, GA ... so if you know of any organizations or areas around there that offer rowing, could u put that in your response too?

THANK YOU
