I am a newbie to rowing(just started about 3 weeks ago) and I had a question for all of you expert/novice rowers out there who may have some insight.

*Skip past brackets if you want*

[Just as a background, I used to play football, basketball, run track and some cross country. I decided to get into rowing because it is a time competitive sport like track and cc and it also requires explosive power such as in football and basketball.]

I frequently row on a c2 indoor rowing machine at my college. I want to begin rowing in the water and am a bit uneducated with everything there is to rowing in a scull(i probably stated that wrong because I don't know all of the rowing terminology). I have kayaked and rafted on whitewater (in addition to canoeing, which really isn't anything), so that is all the background that I have. Does anyone know of any ways I can get started with real rowing? BTW I am from Atlanta, GA ... so if you know of any organizations or areas around there that offer rowing, could u put that in your response too?

THANK YOU

A quick Google turns up:

http://www.standrewrowing.com/page/sarc ...

http://www.atlantarow.org/cgi/dbman/lea ... >

2 local clubs that offer learn to row in your area. In the meantime you could contact Concept2 and ask them to send you the free technique video (if you bought an erg yourself you'll already have this). The video will teach you a style that shouldn't mess things up too badly once you get on the water!

Oh, and you may want to give your next post a different title - "Answer Me" might seem a little demanding to some people, which isn't a good way to get help from volunteers

Cheers, Paul
