Ok, I have been thru and written down all the all time bests for everything from 500m - 60min for my age group as that is the standard to be measured against and it is pretty obvious that Tore Foss is --- amazing.

Could someone tell me a bit more about him as Google doesn't help to much.

Looking at some of his distance times they are almost beyond comprehension.

Tks

A blurb about Tore under the picture of us (and Peter Dreissigacker) on the 2003 CRASH-B medal stand in the Spring 2003 C2 update says:

Tore is a trainer at Skullerud Sports Club in Norway. He has incredible upper body strength and can do a one arm lift of 473 pounds. He is the 1991 Norwegian Bodybuilding Champion. 2002 Norwegian Tempo Cycling Champion and two-time CRASH-B Champion.

Tore is 6' 4.5".

Don't know why, but by some freak of nature, Tore rowed very poorly (for him!) at the 2004 CRASH-Bs, well outside of medal territory.

ranger

I found this on the uk site about the 2004 race in which Foss mysteriously disappeared from competition.

"The pre-race favourite was the Norwegian giant Tore Foss who set off at a hard pace. With 300 metres gone, Foss paused for a second and took one hand off the handle, slowing right down for a number of strokes. Although he swiftly restarted, he was never back in the race, leaving the field wide open"

This phenomenon is not that uncommon at the top, it seems.
Dwayne Adams faded from an injury during the 2002 BIRC. Jean-Paul Tardieu blew out his back in 2002 crash-b's.

it happens on the water as well. Some of you may hav ealready read this, but for those who haven't I think the play by play of the 3rd heat of singles trials this year is another of these sort of situations. Thanks Row2K
