I haven't participated in the HC since 2000. This year I will attempt to complete the 200K distance. It is 11/26 and for my first 3 days I have completed 7000, 8000, and 8533 meters per day respectively. HOw many of you are also participating? When I last participated in 2000 I recall that the forum had many comments on the HC and individual progress, etc. THis year I cannot find a single reference to it on the forum. Maybe I am just looking in the wroung place or else the popularity of the HC has diminished significantly. Ideas? Comments?

I've started and have managed to log almost 32K. The days off from work helped a lot...

tj

I am going to try waking up a half hour earlier each morning for December and pull 7,500 each day. That should easily make the 200K.

My 12 year old daughter is rowing 2K per day, so this is extra incentive to finish this challenge so we can have matching hoodies.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

Hiya

This is my first HC. I've managed to do about 29k so far. I am aiming for 200k :-) I really hope to keep it up.

I wonder why C2 don't do a "count down" on the challenges page, as they did with the Skeleton Challenge.

Good luck everyone

/Anna

i've done since i started erging, 3 holiday seasons ago, and i'll do it this year too. amazing how motivating a sweatshirt can be. have done 2 10K's so far, but will be away in india for a week. i asked them to put me in hotels with exercise facilities, but an erg is probably too much to ask for. so, i'm going to have to get serious when i get back. still plenty of time, though.

good luck and have fun finishing it

Andrew

I wish there was a countdown feature also. THis would be very helpful. Good Luck in the HC.
Dave

I have been putting in about 8K per day. I am at 31,500M at present. I will be out of town for 5 days during the HC so will have to put in some extra meters when I return. Good Luck to everyone and have fun!

This weekend we've had on the water races and I haven't logged any meter but I'm going to do it, no doubt! I've made it the last two years and I'm going to do it again I WANT MY PIN!! . And I would like my t-shirt or my hoodie also but it's impossible outside the US

C2 folks, why don't you let me pay for the transportation or even better why don't you coordinate it with the local dealers, you send some t-shirts in the same transportation you send the machines and that's it!! At the end how many spaniards take the challenge? Me and....?

Pleeeeaaaaase, please, please

I did my first HC in 2002, and the momentum kept me rowing all the way through to the 2003 HC. I let things slide after that, and skipped last year's HC. I'm finally back on the rail, just in time for the hoodie. I started Saturday and have logged 28K so far. I'll shoot for 10K a day to build in some padding in case my schedule gets dicey closer to Christmas.

I first started erging in October of 2000 and, then, the HC seemed like an impossible dream. Since then, I've completed each of them. One key has been getting a bunch of long pieces in before the Thanksgiving weekend is over. Another is mapping out a plan so that you now how far you need to erg each day.

We were at my in-laws this year and their local health club had no ergs. As such, instead of the usually 50K plus, I finished the weekend with only 17K which I did on Sunday after we returned. Still, with a total of 31 days, I should be able to make it with 5 workouts per week. Some of the ones during the week before work will have to total 10K.

Good luck to all,

Neil

I became the proud owner of a Model C about 6 weeks ago, and have attended a couple of Xeno's classes at Iron Oarsman. I am giving the HC 200K a shot, I have been rowing at least 10K 5 days a week, so I think I should make it. I need a new T-shirt!

Dave

My first Holiday Challenge and find that it is a great motivator. I'm at 97k by rowing twice a day instead of my normal once a day.
My wife thinks I'm crazy, but have my eyes on that tee shirt
The nice side benefit is that she is now on the tredmill ( former clothes hanger) twice as often also!
