I just got back from the head of the Charles, it was great we probably walked around 15 miles total. There was a session where the American Olympic eights signed autographs talked to people which was cool, we also got to see the women compete in a race.

I definatly had a great time there, if anyone else went or has questions talk here.

~Sarah

"Life's short... row hard"
"Real athletes row, the rest just play games"
"Shut up and row"

I wish I went, I really wanted to go. Saw it on tv and got the chills up my spine wanting to row SOOOOOOOO BAD. My highschool competed in the Head of the Charles and did very well. Hopefully next year I will be rowing in it.

I wish I could have rowed in it too, next year I will. I hope to row in youth singles and eights but my highschool doesn't have a team so I'll have to stick with club eights.

I have pictures and tee shirts... the stuck up clasics rowing ones, "Real athletes row, the rest just play games," "God created rowing to keep the truly gifted from ruling the world." I realy wanted one that said "I cant, I have crew" in like eight languages, my friends would have appriciated that since it ties up every day from 4:30 to 8:00 including driving time and changing time. Anyway if you can go next year definatly go.

~Sarah

"Shut up and row"
"life's short... row hard"

"Anyone see the regatta?..."

How about row in it, or better yet, WIN!

Did that on Saturday (event 6F), received another saucer-sized HOC winner's medal in the swampy vendor tent that evening. Tried to say hi to some of the C2 people ("Hi Bill P"), but they were intent in a meeting or furiously repairing oars. [Thank you C2 oar repair crew - you saved us last year when our cox took a whack at a bridge in practice the day before the race.]

Wise move by the HOC organizers to shorten the course. The whitecaps in the warmup basin would have filled an 8+ in a minute, not to speak of what would happen to a single!

Great to see banners and welcome HOC signs all over Boston, even though the crowds were trampling each other to get to Fenway Park.

If you did not get to row this year, keep the faith! It took about 18 years between the first few times I rowed in the event & getting to row again for the past 6 regattas...kept trying to improve all the time & it's paid off with several of those gold saucers.
Row (erg) on. NICE!!!! Congrats... what did you compete in? I didn't go Saturday but went Suday and I definatly want to race next year.

I guess that there's a negetive positive thing with the wind and such, it can give advantages like being able to put more preasure on the oar easier and provide stability but it also makes it more tiring and sometimes mroe dificult for set and balance effecting tenique. I wasn't sure where the start was, we walked to magazine beach and found out it was shortened but could never find the official start... so we went to the "rowapalloza" or whatever

Anyway enough rambling
~Sara
