All of a sudden I have been getting a numb feeling in my right quad. The feeling goes from the side of my knee up the outside of my quad and up about 5 inches. It doesn't hurt or affect me, and it is only there sometimes (especialy after I have been sitting down). I have only gotten it 3 times now in the last 2 days, but I am wondering what it means. I have been doing a lot of erging and weights, but I have never heard of this as a sign of fatigue or overtraining. Anyone have an idea?

Sounds like you might have something called meralgia paresthetica, a nerve entrapment of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve as it exits the pelvis.

It's sort of the "carpal tunnel" of the thigh--pressure on the nerve can occur from compression via a belt, belly, or leaning way over for the catch a few thousand times.......

Loose clothing, avoiding long periods of sitting/leaning over all help.

HTH

John (MD)
