I now have a cast from just behind my toes to three inches below my knee on my left foot due to a fractured 5th marsupial, oops, metatarsal. My question is, has anyone out there rowed or known somebody who has with a cast?? I have a lot of the smaller bubble wrap and I am tempted to put some on the footrest and try some slower, easier, but longer rowing. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Thanks, Paul S (The other Paul S)

This is a little historical, but I don't see why it couldn't work today ....While training for the 1976 Olympic singles' trials, I fractured a metatarsal. My doctor was aware of my plight (crying helped) and I got a cast that could be removed (split down the sides). I was able to continue to row and race the single. (People were kind to carry my boat and oars to the dock and back, while I was on crutches!)
Also, you may already be aware that you could row the erg, using slides, with one leg only.
Heal fast!

Joan
(1976 Olympic Single Sculls - Silver)

Paul
I row using a artificial leg which is a bit different from a cast but i sometimes let the leg slide outstretched on the floor sliding the heel of my shoe on the floor, get a pair of castors fitted to the bottom of your cast

QUOTE(Paul S @ Jun 26 2005, 02:26 PM)

I now have a cast from just behind my toes to three inches below my knee on my left foot due to a fractured 5th marsupial, oops, metatarsal. My question is, has anyone out there rowed or known somebody who has with a cast?? I have a lot of the smaller bubble wrap and I am tempted to put some on the footrest and try some slower, easier, but longer rowing. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Thanks, Paul S (The other Paul S)
