I've been guilty in the past of raising and reading several topics in various forums about blisters, their pain, the so called preventions and the so called cure's for these nasties.

Yawn !

I was in pain !, I was desperate ! and I was crying out for faith! forgiveness and a miracle.

I now know that there is a answer to my prayers. Its not gloves, its not tape on the fingers, its not pooring tea over the blisters or popping them at the breakkie table.

The answer is simply this....with no gloves...don't grip too hard and row. If you get a blister or hot spot appearing after 11 K's, do a week of rowing for 10 K's before you get a hotspot appearing. Toughen the little digits up before you go further.

After suffering greatly for the first 1.5 million metres and reading that eventually my hands will get used to the rower, I was loosing faith in all the advice being given to me. However a week of limited workouts with no gloves or protective tapes and a loose grip I'm now finally sorted. Im on half-marathon's now with no gloves and no blister problems. My only obstacle to regular exercise is the train system I use to get home on.

Once again for all those suffering with the blisters...pain free rowing will come - eventually.
