Go to rankings

set age range from your current age to say 80 or 90 or whatever

Check out how many people significantly older than you are faster than you.

Give yourself long term target to be best in the "next" 10 year age bracket.

Apologies in advance to anyone who thinks I'm being ageist in some way.

Bill

I do the same, but to be fair, we should adjust the older ergers' times by the C2 handicaps of 0.75s/500m/year in the 50s, 1.0s/500m/year in the 60s, etc.

[/QUOTE]Ralph,

Am not interested in being fair - too many of these people don't need a handicap to beat me !

Now did I manage to get that quote thingy working properly ?

Bill

(Back pain is my limiting factor.)

Actually, it leads to an interesting question. I turn 40 this summer. (No black "Over the Hill" balloons please.) According to US Rowing rules, I turned 40 Jan. 1. (Gives me six extra months to freak out about turning 40.)

Does C2 (logbook/rankings) follow the same convention? Somehow I think not.

So, do I compare myself to the 30-39s or the 40-49s?

When you look at the rankings, you can choose a range, say for your case from 38 to 42. I.e., just look at a five year range with your age in the middle. Ralph suggested that once I think. At the time the discussion was about the unfair advantage a 40 year old has when competing against a 49 year old.

Byron
