I once read an interesting study of three groups of people. One group stretched all the time, the other some of the time, and the third group, never. Which do you think had the most injuries? The middle group, the part timers. The all the times and none of the times were tied. I myself just start off slow and get warmed up that way and have never had any problems.

Paul S

Sara

First off, I'm glad to hear their not those crazy yoga-new-agey-type penguins.

I found this on the c2 site long long time ago. There's also a special hidden stretch. (Hint, you can find it here.. Maybe they didn't enjoy my "lol, you said gluteals" emails...)

I stretch after warm-up and after cool-down. These exact stretches.

QUOTE

Which do you think had the most injuries? The middle group, the part timers.

Well, since the the most movement you'll get from the third group is probably when they have to reach for the tv remote, it makes sense. Though, word of mouth is there's a lot of torn rotator cuffs in that category. And unrelated groin pulls.

Have fun,

Joe

http://www.row2k.com/physio/overvie1.ht ... Stretching for Rowers.

I went to a (non-new-agey) yoga class, and it helped me so much. Compulsive rowing, and only rowing, all season left me kind of "locked up" and inflexible and my back was in constant low-grade pain. One yoga class loosened me up and made me feel so good, the back pain was gone and I stood about a foot taller the next day.

Gaiam.com has some good, cheap videos, about 2.99 each: AM/PM Stretch, and AM/PM Yoga for Beginners. Ignore the new agey tone of the site.
