I have a tendency to go for a powerbar right after practice.<br><br>Heather Johnson<br>F20 158lbs 5'7"<br>2k 7:32.2 20min 5057 30min 7481

I'm lazy, so I wake up about 10 mins before practice, toss on some trou, run to the gym, erg, then have a heaping pile of eggs, salsa, and cheese, with a bowl or two of rice krispies and a danish on the side.

I think you understand, but just to make sure you don't have a disaster...<br><br><br>the 1/2cup dry oatmeal is cooked. I just say dry so you know what to start out with. (8ozs/250ml water for 2mins in microwave) I soft scramble the egg whites in a pan with some canola oil spray (medium heat for about 5 mins constant stirring) and then dump em right in the oatmeal. I then stir in the cinnamon and 3 Splenda (sucralose) packets.<br><br><br>I don't even wanna know what could happen if you were to eat the oats dry.

I don't like to eat to close to rowing. . .it makes me ill. However, I do like pasta afterwards.

I eat dinner before I row. I don't recommend it. But then again, after the kids go to bed is the only time I really have to row. Knowing that I am going to row cuts down on how much I am willing to eat, so that serves a purpose as well.

Protein shake made with soy protein, any fruit, skim milk before or after, never seems to 'bog' me down. Also: nuts, seeds, fruits make easy snacks to take the edge off if you cant or dont want to eat much.

I row at around 2:00 pm each day. I eat an apple about 30 minutes prior to training. This gives me energy at the start of my workout and lasts until the work out is over. Because it is a "slow-release" carbohydrate, I do not crash afterwards.<br><br>Eating things like candy bars, "work-out" bars, etc. result in a rapid rise in blood sugar - resulting in "crashing" afterwards. <br><br>

What you eat before the workout will really only stop you from feeling hungry. It takes some time for the food eaten to get into the muscles. However felling hungry while working out is definatley not good!<br><br>In terms of what to eat afterwards. You need to eat something fairly high in Carbohydrates 30 -50 g depending on your size within 1 hour of exercise to replace the stored carbohydrates you have used.
