This is a picture our coach took last week of the only practice workout I had with the girls that I rowed with in the Head of Des Moines.

We get up at 4:30 to be at our workout by 5:15. When we arrive it is pitch dark and very cold. The sun rises while we are out on the water. Rowing in this beautiful environment makes getting up so early worthwhile.

I am sitting in bow position (I very rarely row anything but bow). This is the exact crew that took 2nd place in the novice womens 4+ in Des Moines!!

<img src='

Hey KathiS!

Great job on your first regatta results! Two silvers, not too shabby at all. You've worked hard to get where you're at, so you just enjoy it, girl. And that's a beautiful pic, too. I've gotta try on-water rowing---there's gotta be a club or some group here in northeast WI with all the lakes we have up here.

Ya did good! Keep us posted.

--jen

Thanks Everyone!

Our next regatta will be the Head of the Hooch in Chattanoogo, Tennessee. It is a much larger regatta and we are not likely to do as well as we did in Des Moines, but nothing can beat that feeling we had when we finished the row and were getting out of the boat on the dock. We looked at each other grinning from ear to ear and said that was the best row we've ever had. We had absolutely no expectations of winning anything, but we sure did enjoy the row!!

I cannot wait to go to the Hooch. I hear it is an absolute blast!

Here is a pic of our Novice Womens 4+ crew. (I am the one that is all braces on the far left).

<img src='

Hey Kathi! I hadn't heard how you all fared at Des Moines! Great Job. Good to see another BCR person here- I had wondered if I was the only one! I rowed with BCR some last year, and then started back in August with the Open group. I think I met you on a Saturday practice one week. I'm planning on rowing Comp next year, so maybe we'll get to know each other better then. Bravo on the medals! That's way fun!
