[FONT=Arial]

I have just found this part of the website. It seems to be a great place to ask questions. I know how to use very little of the erg monitor - I pay attention to the time, the spm and the total # of strokes. What am I missing of importance? I know that the damper setting can be changed but have been keeping it at 10 just because I feel like I am getting a harder workout. I usually row 30 min. or more, 6,000-7,000meters (5 x week). I am working toward the million meters - only 65, 548 to go!

I have been rowing for several weeks now and just came across this website

I would like to start creating goals for myself now that I have built up some stamina but I am unsure what my baseline should be and how to structure my workouts. I typically measure my progress against my average split time and the number of meters completed in the designated time period.

What do other people do? Can anyone help?

Some statistics on me:
I am short- 4' 9''
In twenty minutes I typically row between 3500-4000 m (I know this is a weak number in comparison with most of you)

For example, at one point I just wanted to consistently get over 3800 meters for a 20 minute piece, then over 3900, then over 4000, etc.

I've also been setting my monitor to countdown meters (usually 4k or 5k) improve my times that way.

To break up these longer rows, I also throw in 1ks once or twice a week.

Hope this helps!
