Thanx to everybody that joined me in my attempt to go sub 20 min for 6k.I manage 19:54.8 and thats a new PB for me(previous:19:59.1).
I did not feel that good and think I'm a little over my peak.I'm also training a lot here down at the coast while having my summer holiday.
My stats for the 6k was:DF=170
1k: 3:19.6 1:39.8/500 27spm 160HR
2k: 3:19.2 1:39.6/500 27spm 167HR
3k: 3:19.8 1:39.9/500 27spm 170HR
4k: 3:20.3 1:40.1/500 28spm 172HR
5k: 3:20.9 1:40.4/500 27spm 175HR
6k: 3:15.0 1:37.5/500 30spm 180HR

I was a bit worried after 3k because of my HR.I'm not use to such a high HR and was worried that I was going to blew because the last 2k was done at 100% and over.I've never seen my HR go up to 180 before(dont race 2k with HR monitor)but I'm sure it's been that high in the 2k races that I've done.
I'm going back on the 6th of Jan and then it's back to high altitude again.

That was sure a great row Andreas, shame I was a few minutes late and missed out not that I would have made you go any quicker!

Well done on your new PB

It was my first race in 2d rowpro. I like that view mode more than the 3d, maybe because I'm still used to e-row.
I intended to stay with you at 1:40 for the first 4km, but it became only 3 . After a slow 4-th km, I could pick up a 1:44 pace in the 5-th and 6-th km. My end time was only 6 sec slower than PB. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope to be able to go sub 20 when I'm 44.

Jaap

I'm living in White River and its about 960 meters above sea level (± 2900 feet) My closest gym is in Nelspruit and the altitude there is about 650 meters above sea level. I do experience a difference between the gym and where I live and also from sea level and Nelspruit, so I susppose you could expect to feel a difference. BUT - I also think the altitude training is good in the long run, especially because most of the competitions are at sea level.

Hope to see you soon back on-line Hope 2006 treats you well!
19:54.8 is a fantastic effort Andreas and just under my all time PB of 19:55 that I did back in my early 40s. I was thinking about joining you guys until the temperature on the day climbed to 44 Celsius (110 F) which basically killed that idea. Our warmest December on record has often left me with no alternative but a 6 am early morning on water row to beat the heat.

When you were busy doing your 6K PB, I was sitting outside on the timber decking, under the shade of our garden trees, with friends, sipping cool drinks and watching the sunset go down.

Rockin Roland
