For those of you that have got Row Pro, you should start using it. 99.9% of the bugs seem to have been sorted out now and it works great on-line as well as off-line.

I will now be buying the full working version as I now feel it is worth the money ($99)

For those of you that do not have it, you can download it a have 10 free goes. Go to www.digitalrowing.com and follow the instructions.

You will need a PM2+ or a PM3 with a Concept 2 rower, a USB Lead (for the PM3) this should have come with your Model D. You will need access to a PC so you can view the monitor when you are rowing.

Go to www.digitalrowing and see for yourself what you can do with this great software, you can save your row files and share them with other Indoor Rowers. We also have handicap events, so it does not matter how fast or slow you are. We have race series too.

Let’s get the internet Indoor Rowing revolution started.

If anybody else has used Row Pro, on-line or off-line then share your thoughts and comments here.

Sir Pirate
Welcome aboard Sir Pirate.

I think the 10 free tries is not enough to really demo RP, and I remember when I first tried it, I wasted maybe 5 of the tries just getting the program running and setup properly, etc. It also makes it very difficult to try an online row during that period since you don't want to run out of tries before the scheduled date. They should give you a 30 day demo period. I think that would help sales of the program. I bought it quickly though (and I wonder if you could just leave RP rowing indefinitely and never get through the 10 tries??).

What is the minimum computer that I could get away with using with Row Pro?

I'm thinking about purchasing a cheap used laptop to take to the gym and just plugging it in when I row.

Any thoughts?

I run it on a 466 celeron; it ran with 96 megs of ram, but it runs better with more (I think I have 256).

But the key for RP is the graphics card. If there was anyway to upgrade the graphics card, or get a laptop with a good graphics card, and I think almost any lap top (faster than my dinosaur) would work fine.

RowPro is unbelievable. It is motivating and I really cannot believe I actually row with new friends from all over the world. I know Pete and his staff will keep improving and perfecting the program. It seems to be working well . Importing files is real neat and of course, internet rowing and chatting is the best . The digitalrowing.com web page and forums are excellent. We'd be very lost without the forums too. I hope RowPro can attract rowers & rowing teams all over the world. It is a GREAT training tool. If they could just be exposed to the program they would be certain to purchase it....What do you all think about RowPro??? I'd like to see if you all appreciate it as much as I do. I think you do! I always use RP for training and races.

Maybe for the finishing touch: some houses, cars, plains, people and animals on the waterside. And in the water some jumping fish and in the air some plains and birds

Great program!

Hennie

Hello

I would really like to get rowpro, and I came really close to buying it but a few things are holding me back:

1) I've got crappy times so am not sure I can race anyone in there anyway. Do people do many handicap races or is it too much trouble to set up?

2) I primarily use a mac computer but have a laptop from work which can be used. On this computer I installed the demo version and get an error when I try and set up a training programme using the ”Training plan wizard”. This is some sort of a syntax error because there’s a comma in one expression: ”Period = 1 AND eventDistance = 0 AND minimum <= 4,62 and Maximum > 4,62” Does this make much sence to you?

Anyway I really agree: A programme with so many features takes some time to get into, so 10 times is not enough for unsure users. I for example started the programme 4 times to figure out what to do with the error mentioned above. Also the placement of the "exit button" in the upper left corner has further let me to quit the programme accidentally once (this is normally where you get some sort of functionality menu dropping down)…

So all in all I am sad to say that the demo really didn’t work very well for me at all.

/Anna
Anna, Regarding your #1 concern: I can say that you will have people to row with. My times are slow and that does not bother me because I get the workout in and my fitness improves. I would definately like to row with you. Also, the RowPro community sets up handicap races that puts everyone at an equal position and makes a race fun for everyone. I was a proud "turtle" in all of the Summer Handicap Series' races and for most of the summer I was in 1st place! Everyone that participated in the SHCS showed me respect and they tried real hard to beat me....but they had to struggle as did I to keep my #1 spot! It was fun and I actually made a lot of friends. I know you would like RowPro....even if you didnt use the Internet part of the program(which I think you would). The basic non internet features are worth the price alone!

As far as your #2 concern....check the following help services:

assist@digitalrowing.com

Information
For information about using RowPro and any questions or suggestions:
info@digitalrowing.com

Customer Support
To report a problem with RowPro or get technical support:
support@digitalrowing.com

Help Desk 24x7
If you need telephone support, contact one of these numbers toll-free:
USA
1-800-839-7084

UK
0808-234-6132

ANNA....it is a GREAT PROGRAM!!! They're aware of these types of problems and will fix it for others.

In the meantime, you can try using the English decimal point (e.g. 4.62) rather than the comma (e.g. 4,62) and see if it will evaluate properly.

Mike
I am pretty new to RowPro too, and have generally been rowing with people much faster than me. Everyone is very patient and helpfull. First of all, no one minds if you finish a few minutes after them on a set distance piece. There are timed pieces as well, like 30 min, where you all finish at the same time regardless of speed. Also, not every online row is a "race". Some are just nice slow training rows that are comfortable. And then there is my personal favorite, the handicap races. It sounds like there is a fall series of these in the works. It'd be great to have you on board - the more the merrier!

- Krysta
