I'd like to schedule a full marathon for either Sunday, September 4th (time open), or Monday, September 5th (after 18:00 GMT). Saturday, September 3rd is possible but only early (starting no later than 13:00) or late (about 22:00).

This is Labor Day Weekend in the USA and also about 4 months sine the April marathons, so it seems like a good time to go again.

Anybody interested? preferences as to time or day?
Bert

Jeff... by "before or after", do you mean the weekend before or after?
Basically, I'm open to anything in about that time frame, so yes, if others want a week earlier or later, that would be OK with me. My idea was that doing a FM every four months is about right for me (I have to gear up.. mentally and physically!!!).
If we get a couple more positive responses (including Hennie), I'll propose two or three specific dates/times, and we'll go from there. Thanks to all, Bert

Proposed date and time are now:
Sunday, August 28th, 13:00 GMT. This is now the weekend BEFORE labor day, in order to accomodate Jeff; Hennie likes the time of day; Captain can you make this?
No, this would not be a handicap race, basically because I believe in such a long race we're all interested in our time, including pace, which we can't get accurately off the PM3, if it is a handicap.
I have put this time up on the RowPro schedule, so please sign up if you might make it. Thanks, Bert

Sorry I won't be able to make it. I have to work days that day but it's ok. I can do 25/26 Aug.
My weekend are very busy I race 3 weekend out of 4 every month this summer so rowing is very dificult to do in weekend and I have to work to, between so if you have to row the marathon a weekend forget me then.

Bert, how fast are you thinking you would go for a M? I know Jeff and Hennie would be faster than me. I was thinking of doing a sub 3:00 M this fall, but I don't think the end of Aug can be considered "fall"; even in Vermont.

So I am a maybe possibly at this point.

I'm hoping I can do right about 3 hours. In April I did 3:01.xx, but I gave it just about all I had.
Whenever I do something longer than a 2k, I set a target pace, for example, a 2:09 for the marathon, and try to stay about a second or two ABOVE that for the first half then gradually bring it down. SO... if you'd like company, I could plan something like a 2:10 or so for the first half. This would be only my second FM, so I can't be positive about how it will go!

Michael: I forgot to mention that my workout partner, Rich Kane, is probably going to row his first FM.... He'll likely be about a 2:16 or so. Assuming he rows, you will not finish last!

Now I've entered the race too. Not that I expect to do much as it will likely be too warm for me but it will probably be my first race as a 60 year old.

Just want to mention to anybody using a PM3 to make sure you have the Beta firmware installed. I had some issues my PM3 miscalculating the elapsed time when compared to my PM2+ at the marathon distance and the Beta code has corrected that issue.

Frank

Glad to see you're in, Frank. Hopefully Maine will be filled with that cool Canadian air just for this race! I think I saw that Leif has also entered...?? This should be good; a fast group and a "working our way up" group!
