Hello, everyone! I thought I would start a thread on Diabetes Management and rowing. Is there anyone else out there with diabetes that is a rower? If so, post, we can share ideas and etc. Also, if anyone knows of any and what they do. Yes this is a vague post but please respond....

In Type 1 diabetes, the body is unable to produce insulin (the immune system attacks the cells that produce and release insulin). Type 1 diabetics must inject insulin to maintain blood sugar levels.

In Type 2 diabetes, the body probably still makes insulin, but the cells can not use it efficiently. Type 2 diabetes may be able to be controlled by changes in diet and exercise, or it may require medication to help the body manage insulin and/or blood sugar levels.

FWIW, my sister-in-law is Type 1, my mother is Type 2.

Do a search...I think there was some good threads on Diabetes and excercise a few months ago in the "Health and Fitness" forum...

mrjuice08,

You might get a larger response if you posted the question under "Health and Fitness" rather than "E-row". The people who use e-row are only a small portion of the rowers who use this forum.

Cheers,

Paul Flack
