Hi,

With the London Marathon being broadcast worldwide, I thought it would be great incentive to watch the event whilst rowing. It would take away some of the boredom of such a long row whilst taking your mind off the time factor.

Plus it's good to see others suffer whilst you are suffering.

We have already completed a RowPro Marathon successfully online, and hopefully the completed bug free 1.7 version will be up and running by the 17th of April.

There is plenty off time to build up to the marathon and there are a number of varied RowPro marathon files to train with, varying from Paul Flacks steady 2:36ish time to a 3:38ish time.

All are welcome, with a marathon it's the taking part and completing the distance that's important .

Hope to see you there,
Regards Paul.

I rowed the London Marathon on-line last year. It was a bit hard starting 4 in the morning, but I was glad that I rowed it with one or two rowers from England.

I probably won't row London this year. The Boston road race is the next day, and several rowers are planning to row a marathon on the sidelines whilst watching the foot race. One marathon is all I can do in a weekend!

I was hoping that Digital Rowing and Concept would connect the ergs during the Boston Marathon with other marathon rowers throughout the world. Maybe having a small roped off area with a sign stating "rowing a marathon because our knees and ankles are shot", or something to that effect. I think it could be a good publicity stunt. Many ergers are former runners. But, so far, neither has shown any interest. I won't be able to set up a small race on the sidelines since I don't have the know how and I will be busy hosting some runners from afar. The race will be simple - a verbal countdown and everyone record their own score when finished.

Cheers,

Paul Flack
