Just had a look at the old server, only one race and thats an old one.

The new server has 13 races scheduled.
http://www.digitalrowing.com/default.as ... >
Looks like it might be time to switch over.

The only useful race left on the old server is the Handicap 5km on Saturdays, even Marilyn has been posting races on the new server.

Gosh, you're right Steve. During the course of a week, I usually only see a couple of OnlineRowing training rows, my own BlueTuesdays 2x6ks, and the handicap races. You might be right - it could be time to switch.

How stable have the digitalrowing.com servers been lately?
Hi Mark,

As you are probably aware there are still one or two issues, however the races mostly start and results are mostly recorded.

We are in need of Beta 5 and when it eventually arrives most of the remaining issues will have been ironed out.

It doesn't matter which server, the old or the new, what is important is the product and how it serves and improves the online community.

The more that join the better as more input and suggestions are given.

I admire your loyalty to the old server but now is the time to move over.
It has been suggested that team rowing events and open events may happen in the future with online team colours.

RowPro and E-row can continue on the same server offering both a wider and greater growing number of events.

Regards Paul.

Hi Mark,

Sorry forgot to add to Steve's example of events, there are as you can see, daily results of rows taking part on the new server - http://www.digitalrowing.com/default.aspx?itemid=285

The problem so far on the new server is that many of the races are in the daytime for me, not good timing

That will sort itself out as more move over

Maybe we can get Nigel to switch to the new server? I should be able to join him on Thursday.

The new server has been working well with me. My problem is that I have to row in 2D or crash. But, that is a problem with the software and not the server.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

If everyone in the race is on e-row it will work every time.

The worse thing left now is if there is a no-show, rowpro isn't keen on starting a race if someone is dropped at checkin

I think Nigel is still a bit wary of the new server, he does get quite a few regulars for his sessions. It's a bad time for me now as it's just after family tea time

Hi

I am using both servers because I am not 100% sastified with the new server
and I don't want that C2 closes our e-row server

For example I was using to write close to my name, my workout, so I could read
my intervals whilst I am rowing. On the digitalrowing server, it writes my computername and not that information.

I have not reached to row alone online on the digitalrowing server neither, I think it doesn't accepts dummies, maybe there is a trick what I don't know.
I am using the digitalrowing server more as test and because I have the hope
that new people join my workouts but I am combining with the e-row server too.

Marilyn

I have kept my Tuesday/Thursday sessions on the E-row server as apart from holiday periods they have regularly attracted 5+ rowers. The sessions start at 19:40GMT and at that time of night ( or lunch hour in the US/Canada ) we all need the server to work 100% as there is no time to mess about trying to get stuff going. There has never been a major problem with the E-row server so not much incentive for us E-row users to switch over to something still in testing though as soon as it is very reliable then I will move.

Looking at the sessions set up and results posted on the new server they still don't seem to have many rowers in each of them. If by switching it meant there would be 8 rowers a session then it would be an added incentive to move over but at the moment I don't think that would happen.

Nigel.

"You don't need dummies, on RowPro it lets you do solo rows" I don't have Rowpro

You have to accept that you can no longer write comments as part of your rower name, it's just one of those things that are different on the new software/server."

You explained better the reasons why e-row with the old server should be keeping
alive and active

Marilyn

Hei,
I miss Cees rerow tool for the digitalrowing server. It gave me a better overview: participants at a glance and the times in my local times.

Can the new server deal with 2 rowers connected to one PC? Do we have both the computers name? Ok, it is not happening very often, but we did it sometimes this year.

Regards
Christine

He has a button on the page to "switch servers". But you need to register as a member to the new server first. I think you need to do that on http://www.digitalrowing.com

As an alternative to Cees Rerow page, you can join races on the new server when you use this link: http://www.digitalrowing.com/default.aspx?itemid=267
This is the "Oarbits page". There you can create races and view results too, all without using E-row.

Tom

I am going to soon become a member of online rowing. I am a beginner and I hope there will be some others who I can compete with. I have the PM3 and am just waiting for a computer hook-up. From what I understand, with the PM3 I can do erow or RowPro. Am I correct? Thank you!

I'm with Marilyn on this one - I tried the new servers three times yesterday with mixed results (a couple errors and crashes, until I switched to e-Row software).

I still like the old server's ability to use different rower names (comes in handy during races to know who's who). That's perhaps the biggest difference I can see between the two servers when everyone is using e-row software.

Ikabob- welcome! I could be wrong, but I believe the PM3 only works with RowPro. The good news is that there's a growing community of RowPro users, and once they iron out the kinks that I and a few "old school" people keep complaining about, we'll have all of our races over on the digitalrowing servers.

But alas, for me, it's still the old servers for awhile longer...
