By popular request, I thought we might try a handicap 6k this weekend. For those of you who missed last week - sign up, you won't be disappointed! For those who were here last week, let's go at it again! (Glutton for punishment )

Same rules as last time (see my thread entiteld Handicap Race Anyone?)

This time, let's use our 6k season bests (or all-time personal best if you're feeling bold and want to REALLY push it).

I'll set up two races - one for 1700 GMT and one for 1730 GMT. This way, we can accomodate a big group if there's a lot of interest. Please sign up, but also post here your target time. If we end up with a lot of rowers, I'd like to consider re-grouping the races so that we have people with similar paces rowing together (just an idea - we'll see if it works!).

Races will be on the old server (e-row) using e-row software. (I know I need to join the modern world, but I still can't get RowPro to work reliably...)

Although I'd love to welcome newbies, I have to ask that everyone that signs up must truly have a 6k all-out effort as a target time to compare to, otherwise it'll be too unfair on the rest of us! So please be honest (or even aggressive) with your targets, so we can have another fun race!

I'll start with my own targets:

2004-05 season best: 22:41.1
All-time personal best: 22:31.1 (from 2003 - yikes!)

I'll use the all-time PB as a target, so 22:31 will be my number for handicapping in the race.

Anyone else?

Mark, I am very very tempted for this one as 6K is my favorite distace to row. You can pencil me in, but am not 100% sure if I should do it yet. I have BIRC the following Saturday and I have also been getting twingies in my back again.

Ohh, I want to do it

6K best this year is 20:44.7

Sir Pirate

Hei Mark,
I participate too. I set a goal with 26:00. Probably it is too high, havn't rowed so fast in a 6k in this season, but it is my goal.
Regards
Christine

Hi Mark,

would really love to participate in this 6K handicap race. I set my SB last week at 22:58 and think I can beat my PB of 22:55 from 2003.
However, I have a 10K run Saturday morning and think I am wrecked in the evening.
Some other time!

Tom

Hey Mark,
I just grabbed the last spot in the first race. My best this year is 21:52, but I'll bid 1 second/500 under that for a 21:40. Should be fun.

Just upgraded to beta 4 on Rowpro. Hopefully the bugs are getting worked out now because it is so much more fun than the e-row screen. See you there.

Jeff

My first 6k on-line was almost 26 and it was not a problem. Everyone is very supportive. As this is a handicap race, just be honest about your target time. Right now we have a full house for the first race but it is possible that some don't show or we split the race in two. Mark is calling the shots.
