Jan. 18 - 8K total
2K warmup
8x500 @ 1:47.5 average, this is down from 1:49.3 two weeks ago
2K cooldown

QUOTE(ulu @ Jan 17 2006, 09:29 PM)

Well we just went paddling through Terra Nova National Park, Canada's most easterly national park.
It looks beautiful.
Jim

Beauty photo Jim. The winners of the Banff Mountain Photo Festival are here if anyone wants to take a look. I'm still on dial-up, so it takes a long time to load the pics, but there are some fantastic pictures there.

I was fortunate enough to attend a banquet last night where Catriona Lemay-Doan was the guest speaker. If any of you ever have the chance to listen to her, don't pass it up. She is a first-class lady who spoke from the heart about her triumphs and travails through her 23 years of competitive speed skating. Talk about performing under pressure, dedication and sticking to a goal - the two gold medals that she won in Nagano and Salt Lake amounted to less than 2' total racing time, the fruits of 23 years of labour!

Mark

It's nice to see the averages going down, eh Rob and Mark ? I've noticed it a bit with the recovery portion of my workouts, about 5m/500 pace faster with the same perceived effort and heart rate.

6k for today (1/18) with a few pick ups.

10k for me - Jan 18.

I finally found the bug in the "rowbot", so I can now steer him on the correct course will little difficulty. (He was following a loxodrome, rather than a great circle for any of you who are interested. Fire the navigator!)

We will probably finish the Cross Canada Row in the next couple of days. The trans atlantic boat will be pulling in to Ireland in a few days.

I will plot a course for London, but that won't take too long, given we will have the entire Eh!Team together at last.

I will send out an e-mail to everyone over the next few days looking for direction on our around the world route, but feel free to post your suggestions here.

The boat should average about 1500 kilometers per week, so take that into consideration when making your suggestions. It is easiest for me, when the distances are longer, since I will be plotting straight line routes and not following roads.

Keep on rowin',

Jim

I'm always up for learning a new word and "loxodrome" was one for me. A frequent website that helps the "spelling challenged " like me is http://dictionary.reference.com/ Here is what they had for loxodrome, (just in case others might be interested .)
"a line on a sphere that cuts all meridians at the same angle; the path taken by a ship or plane that maintains a constant compass direction." Thanks for keeping us on course Jim!
Add these two for me:
7,000 meters on Jan. 17, and
8,000 m. on Jan. 19.

I'll be back tomorrow, then I'm going to be abandoning the boat. Off skiing for a week.
Carol
Hi Ehs!

I tried that CTC challenge again and got 192 more metres. This brings us closer to the team above us, but doesn't really improve our placing any. I got 6,197 metres and had an average heart rate of 173.

Mark, are you still going to give this one a try? Or are you going to wait until the last day like last time?

Shannon

Ok, hosers, this is up for critique. I will email it out to the rest of the Eh!Team after I get suggestions from here.

Here is my proposed route for the around the world row. (Our start point is Port Magee, Ireland, the end of the Trans Atlantic row)

Eh!Team Around the World Row
London
Paris
Rome
Dakar
Cairo
Bagdad
Karachi
Dhaka
Singapore
Perth
Sydney
Greymouth
South pole
Tierra Del Fuego
Santiago
Sao Paulo
Panama
Mexico City
San Antonio
Memphis
Manhattan
C2 HQ - Vermont

I have added a google earth.kmz file to the Trans Atlantic Row site so you can see what this would like like. There is some backtracking but it essentially covers all of the continents.

Eh!Team Round the World Row

It is 55,118,978.54 meters (more or less)

Are you up for it? Any suggestions about route modifications??

Thanx for your help, I am off for a quick row.

Jim

Well done Shannon! We'll see if we can move up a notch or two before month's end. Get some more heavyweights on board. Or more lightweights from the Yukon . Of course I might end up in the life raft

Jan 19 - 14 k

8x500 , 1:53.4 target, 1:52.0 final avg.

Cheers,

Kirk
