I couldn't believe I caught you guys. With about 300 to go, I saw I had Mark and hit the gas (for the last 200, I was under 1:40 pace). When I caught Mark, Krysta popped up on the screen with about 100 to go, so I kicked it up again and got by them both for the finish. This was a fun Handicap race.

I realize I should be pulling around 6:50, but since the baby showed up, I've only been getting in 1-2 workouts in each week. This morning, I woke up 35 minutes before the race, and then found out I had to post the delays! Yikes. Posted those, and got 3k in for a warmup. Sub 1:45 didn't feel sustainable. Great. For the actual race I held on between 1:45 - 1:48, so it was good to actually get so close to sub-7. I'll get it next weekend if I can get 5 workouts in this week...

My HR, which usually goes well into the 180s during a race, never broke 172. So I better get in the right frame of mind and see what I can do next week.

I still had fun, though - thanks all.

At least the software stayed connected to the server and PM3 and the time got recorded properly. One of these days, I'll actually see a race finish properly!

The minute the race was over, the power came back on. Go figure!
Mark does win the award for persistence under duress. As if a 2k race isn't enough duress.

That was fun....

no, wait a second...that's not exactly true...

...to be honest, it was before and after it ended. I hate 2ks during the race.

I tried an experiment and dropped my drag to 114 to see if it would help (I usally row at 118-120). It obviously didn't.

Out of curiosity, what drag levels do you guys use.

I'm hoping to find one where I go...wow this is really easy. Just like walkin' in the park

Thanks all. have a great weekend.

Ernie

Ernie:

112 or 113 ... always ... not fooling with it until I get in better condition and then I'll play with it. As a newbie, I need to limit the variables as much as possible!

This is damper setting 4 on the Model D.

-- Mark

Done my stroke graph for todays 2K. Found the row comfy, should have gone harder in the 1st 1000m. Gutted that Mr Flack beat me by .5 sec. (He was on slides though)

Sir P

(snip)

Bill:

How/why did you estimate this pace?

I'm assuming it's from some aspect of the Wolverine Plan where you've extrapolated performance in some (or several) of the workouts and correlated them to 2K pace.

Mike deliberately would not make the connection to his race pace and the L1 or L2 interval workouts, but he does say that there is a close correlation for him (and then comments that because it works for him, he does not assume it works for anyone else).

I'd just be curious about what you've seen or thought.

My last 4 x 1,000 was at 1:52.5 and my PB today was 1:52.5. Pretty close correlation there!

My last 8 x 500 was at 1:51.3, but it was several weeks ago.

Hmmmm ... just curious ...
