I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I've been listening to the Ursula 1000's first album and Ursuladelica almost exclusively for a week. It's incredible... poppy, jazzy and beaty. Imagine St. Germain on happy pills and caffeine and you're getting the right idea.

All I have to say is someone put on Ashlee Simpson to do 2ks to. I was thrilled. (no, not really)<br /><br />The only thing about that music that motivated me was the incentive to get off the erg as quickly as possible to smash the cd lol<br /><br /><br />As for erging I like linkin park -- their beat stays the same and it's nice and hard music so it gives me an adreneline rush and helps me keep a nice ratio.

If you're at all a metal or heavy rock fan, I tried rowing to Clutch's Blast Tyrant this morning and just had an amazing time. What a great album.

recent favorites (play in shuffle mode, loud):<br /><br />the fall: the 50,000 fall fans can't be wrong compilation is brilliant for erging- weird, hypnotic, funky<br /><br />velvet underground: live 1969 (both discs merged together in one playlist)- all the songs get stretched out fabulously, they just keep chugging away and then your 10K is done.<br /><br />andrew

There's <a href='http://www.vashonrowing.org/home_about_ ... trokin.htm' target='_blank'>Strokin'</a> but it may serve more as a distraction, reminding you of other rhythmic pursuits...

[Lately I have been watching DVD concerts. You got the music and the visual distraction when your sick of looking at the PM2. Particularly, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane (on a TV show, lasts 23 minutes but I loop it over and over), Talking Heads (Stop Making Sense) and a Brazilian rock group I heartily recommend <a href='http://www.patofu.com.br/' target='_blank'>Pato Fu</a> <br />[/quote]<br />Hey, I love to row long, and watch concert dvd's too, Yes ( Yessongs) 23 minute Close to the Edge footage is a good start, Stevie Nicks ( Live From Red Rocks), Phil Collins, and of course any one of the Grateful Dead, from the vault DVD's.<br />For a short run I have taped Kill Bill 1 the soundtrack where Uma Meets up with and fights Lucy Liu that freckled Face Beauty.

For me nothing beats the Eagles and Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band on my MP3 player. Of course I'm 65...

I can tell you what not to play. I tried Bruce Springsteen's new Devils & Dust album today. It is just too much of a downer to erg to. You need something to inspire you, or just take your mind off what you are doing, not a series of downer tunes. It is a great album and will probably win a Grammy but don't try and erg to it.
