N&B great row to say the least . I see your web link is Ultra running, these people are amazing athletes, do you or have you ever ran the ultra distances of up to 100k. You seem to have great endurance on the erg. Do you have any problems with the shorter rowing work?

Roy, as I said today, excellent rows today my friend

Sir Pirate
I ask because, with your next 'planned' PB attempt you would give 100% and would most likely shave a few more seconds off.

Excellent news for us who need to lose a few pounds - there is some 'free speed' to be gained with a few kilos of fat removed.!

Cheers
RichardT

RST,
yes I am going well faster as a lwt, It can't be a coincidence.

the rows yeaterday were part of a charity 16million metere row in one day, and we all rowed 30 min slots, so I just blasted off from the start of each of the first 2, then after completeing 5k, i had to continue on to complete 30 mins.

i thought about a 2k pb in the 3rd one but after 1 min at race pace I thought better of that one!
my 30 mins slots were;

8060,
8170,
7890,
7700, done this at 19spm with good form.

Gary Blackman of Team Oarsome did 60,000+

I started rowing on July 14, 2004 on the Model C my daughter borrowed from her high school team for the summer. I bought a Model D in November when we had to turn the Model C back in at the school.

I'm 53, 5'11", 180+ pounds. I rowed my first 2K for time on February 9, 2005 (7:47.3). Yesterday (four weeks later), I did my second 2K and managed a 7:39.3. I feel pretty good about knocking off 8 seconds in 4 weeks. (Pats self on back.)

I have been doing all my rowing other than the 2K's strapless. I think I have learned a great deal from going strapless.

Porkchop

After one week not erging because they were rebuilding the gym (3 new C2's!) i climbed on a brand new C2.
After searching for a while i found out how to set the distance to 6K.
New PB from 21:58:6 to 21:46:4. Not spectacular but hey, it's a PB.

I was very dead at the end. Last 5 minutes my HR was 180! I wanted to try the new crosstrainer but i was bit shakey in the legs so i thougth it was better to do some other things in the gym.

The owner of the gym stood beside me when i was rowing and was asking question how the new rower was. All i could do was nod my head and wishing for him to go away.

I pulled 7311 meters in 30 minutes some months ago, and 13,443 meters in 60 minutes last week. Broadly speaking, I'm in the great middle of my age-group -- a close to average on everything, and a little better at middle distances than at either long or short distances

Rowing is not an end in itself for me; it is only the cardio/endurance component of a more comprehensive program. Nevertheless, I think it is an interesting challenge, as well as enjoyable, and the fora here are very helpful for the most part -- at least as long as we aren't debating scientific matters as to which there is really no debate.

Porkchop

Running very late this AM so decided to have a go at a 1k. New PB: 3:02.7. First 550 or so was at 1:30 pace, then I started to slip....

It's humbling to realize that Shurmei can do at least twice the distance at a faster pace....
