Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Also passed 4 million meters during the session (thought combining them would be a nice touch).

Still on a steady 2 pound a week weight loss following the Weight Watchers Flex program (utilizing an unauthorized Palm program called WWCalc) which I started on June 27th 2005 at 224.8, currently 207.2 and oh so looking for the day when the first number in my weight will once again be a 1.

Charles
(254/207/158)

Charles,

After looking at the number of meters you have rowed and the daily increase, it is no wonder that you are losing 2 pounds a week. How many meters do you row each day on average? How much time does it take you? Which model are you using: A, B, C, or D? How many meters do you row in an hour for example? How many points on WW do you eat each day?

I ask because you seem to be losing pounds, but I just maintain the same weight, haven't lost any inches, but keep getting stronger and stronger with more and more stamina. For example, when I started rowing in May, I couldn't row longer than 15 minutes without taking a break and drinking a carbohydrate drink (and there was no way I could row longer than one hour); so in a one hour row, I would have to take about 4 breaks of about one minute and my pace was slow (still is, but I continue to make PBs almost daily in the 500K, 1000K, 2000K, 5000K, 10,000K, HM, FM, 60 minute (e.g., yesterday), and 30 minute -- so I continue to improve). Since May 1st, I have rowed two full marathons, several half marathons, and over 1,000,000 meters, and of course I no longer need to take breaks even during a full marathon; in addition, when I did my old weight lifting routine, my bench press increased by 50 pounds which I found quite interesting. At 59, I suspect my metabolism must have really slowed down. I will start pumping iron again Monday to see if this helps.

Anyway, if you don't mind it would be great for me to use your system to get my body to start losing fat. So I hope you will share with the team since I may not be the only one interested. If I have to increase my daily meters then so be it (today I'm playing golf so no rowing)

Keep rowing!

Mike
Hi,

I am working at weight loss. I bought my model D in March. I love to row but I also bike, so during good biking weather I don't row much. Now I am laid up with plantar fascitis.... so.... while I did join the RPRG team, not wanting to be a load in the boat I went back to "no affiliation." I don't want to drag this gutsy group down.

A couple of questions:

1. Anyone else battle with plantar fascitis and if so, what's your advice?

2. What's the minimum I need to be rowing to be an asset to this team instead of a liability? Generally speaking is sporadic rowing (alternating with biking) a liability to team standings? In other words should I be looking for another team that expects the participant to be also doing other sports?

Thanks for the inspiration. I hope I can figure out how to row some distance while still 'babying' my feet!

Regards, --mark12_30
