Thanks to our captain for volunteering. I'm still getting used to exercising without having to spend 15 minutes taping up my feet the way I did when I trained to walk a marathon. No blisters; no lost toenails; and a bevy of ducks to keep me motivated. What could be better?

Wendy

Hey Wendy!

One of my buddies runs marathons, and she'd get some of her toenails bleeding sometimes...makes me cringe to even think about it!

Did everyone see that there are 52 teams for the JVTC? C2Bill posted that on the JVTC topic. I don't know if they're going to have a team board set up like the main team board, so we can see who's on the teams, what the standings are, etc. Pretty cool that so many folks are doing this.

Go Ducks, and Go Fowl Play!!

--Jen in WI

I'm in! Emilia, I sent you my info via the PM button, let me know if you don't get it. I don't know how many meters I can contribute, but every little bit counts, no?

Laurie

Mt. Rainier Md

It took 8 hours and 15 minutes, which equalled the time of a 90 year old woman from the year before. So don't look to me for speed! It's a good thing we're counting meters and not meters per minute for this challenge.

Wendy

I've been trying to work up some faster times by doing some interval stuff. I think I'm going to have to stop watching DVDs when I row because I slow down for the intense, dramatic stuff (I almost stop so I can hear it all), but I row like crazy during an action scene. Doesn't even bother me that I'm gasping and choking! That's, um, how I do my intervals.

--Jen in WI

Who will row the first meter?
Anybody staying up to ring in the new year and then going to row?

Not me! I plan to start the Challenge with a half marathon distance--HM (21,097 m). I will do it in three sittings, so I won't record the time for a ranking. I'll just plod along until I get it done.

Happy New Year!
Susan aka Wood Duck

Marian Deakin was the first to row and post meters for the team! Way to go! Did you row just after the ball dropped in New Zealand?

I still have 2.5 hours in 2005. (Although, I am still not staying up!)

Susan aka Wood Duck.

If you go to your concept 2 logbook and click on the blue words in the orange boxes at the top of the page, you will see "teams" click there to watch the January challenge!

Perhaps I could see it because the very first person to row and post meters in the challenge was someone from Fowl Play. Now there is also a representative from Taff Attack (Mike Taylor).

Let's go "Fowl Play!"
We will all row different amounts based on our time, interests and fitness level,
but if we all row something on all the days we can,
we will go far!! (and possibly the farthest! )

(side note - Owens Lake is essentially a dry lake out in the desert.) I just sent in the message for it yesterday, so it will probably not get processed until after the holidays. Perhaps the "Team" box only shows up on the logbooks of those who have been registered as being on one of the teams.

Thanks for the response.

Bob S.

The logbook went down sometime after midnight EST last night.
Several people have posted the fact that they can't get in either.
Susan
