Sorry to hear you didn't make it this time Carla. Going to give it another go??

Daren - Outstanding run mate. 29 seconds is quite a bit.

Going to have the wife cox me through my run on Saturday. It worked pretty well with the last 1k on my last run, so maybe her coxing me the whole way will help even more. We'll find out on Saturday won't we?

Carla - What is a "6 K unlimited"? I will try but how do you do it? I am not from "Wales', so am not sure if it is okay.

Citroen - Excuse my late reply, will e-mail you the information, thanks for taking the time to do this.

6k - as fast as you can go - no limit on stroke rate.

Next month :

30 minutes 20 strokes per minute : as far as you can go.

Well done Chris me old matey on the 22.14 6K. Must have been a tough one yet pleasing to do so well. You are right, I haven't got a better 6K in me (stunned to see that one actually as I started out with the intention of sub 22 mins only) so the Taff II boat will have to be accelerated along by the others.

Great row Carla to go sub 2:00 pace for 6K the other week - the first time ?

Cheers all from hot (35C+), humid Qld. Have a tiptop New Year all.

Martin

I hope you give that 6K a go as by now you've heard from everyone what "unlimited" is--the challenge ends 12/31 so there's not much time! Do you think you can land in the Taff I boat?

Speedy, I'll try again...this time, without the pesky pace boat to distract me. I think the pace boat would have been helpful if I could have had it to do "re-row", but that workout wasn't on PM3, so no chance to do that. It would be helpful to have a cox again, too. It helped to have my sister there for the last 1K or so, even though she didn't even know when to yell. My family is going to be away skiing so I don't know if I can find anyone around but it surely would help. It sounds like you are planning on another shot yourself, good for you.

Martin, you are in the middle of hot summer I guess and I don't imagine it's very conducive to racing! Yes it was the first sub 2:00 6K (3rd try at the challenge, though).

Off to check the CTC site and see how many seconds we're off 3rd. Krysta Coleman is planning another shot with some new stroke rate strategy so I really have to try again!
I blew out at 1K to go, just couldn't keep going at that pace. The mistake I made was to get intrigued by the pace boat function on my new PM3. I set it for 1:58.0, just .3 faster than my last one. The problem was, the pace boat toots along at exactly the average you set, so it destroyed my plan of trying to negative split it. I couldn't stand letting the boat get ahead at the beginning.

I just had a go at the 6k, too, Carla. One of the great points of RowPro is that it allows one to row against a previous row of your own, or to download other people's rows and row against them. For my row today, I set it up to row against my previous row from 2 weeks or so ago. The advantage of this is that it doesn't shoot off at an average pace, but rows along with varying pace, shadowing how one rowed in that piece. All I had to do was keep my nose ahead.

Worked a treat, and I knocked off another 29 seconds or so. I'll tell you what, though. I'm glad it's the last one I "have" to do for a while. =)

Daren, that's great! a big improvement and now I'll never catch you again probably. I'm pretty sure I can do "re-row" with the PM3, too, but the one I wanted to re-row was on PM2 and so I couldn't do that. Too bad you can't program the pace boat (on a new workout) to negative split.

Anyway great job on your new 6K, what a great way to end 2005!

No need for hanging your head in shame Spectre. The fact that you're willing to give it another go shows the true team spirit running through your veins!

Heart of a Dragon!!

OK, I'm going off to do a 6K warm up and then IT. Dave (my husband) is going to cox me the last 1500 meters. I came home from work for a few hours to do this and when he could be here to yell at me and then I'm going back to work. I sure don't want to do this!!! my hands are all clammy and my stomach is yucko and I've felt like a caged animal all morning with the dread of it, o help

Happy happy!

I did it!
23:36.6 PB by 4 seconds, so only shaves less than a second off our boat average. If Dave wasn't there I don't think I would have made it, in fact with 100m to go I stopped a second and rowed on about 1/8 slide for a few strokes before a final frantic, gaggin sprint.

And it's got the IND_V!!!!!
