Great stuff Daren! 1 Million Metres for the season and you were such a late starter to boot!! Keep piling them on fella!!

I'm in a great mood! I did a 2x750m session today with a target pace of 1:45. This was an important session as it was what Eddie was going to base my race plan on for Enfield. Having the remnants of a recent cold still in me, I really didn't think 1:45 was achievable so I decided to aim for 1:45.5 for the first set and just try and get as close as possible to 1:45 for the second set. The outcome far exceeded my expectations and was a huge improvement from the same session just prior to the Evesham IRC (9th July). Results were (Evesham times in brackets):

Set 1 - 1:45.4 (1:47)
Ser 2 - 1:44.1 (1:46.7)

The big difference for me (apart from fitness) was my adoption of a more upright rowing position throughout. This meant the 33spm felt a lot more comfortable (and less rushed) than before.

A big thankyou to Martin (AussieTaff) for his helpful tips!

Well done Daren........

Ref: The Row Till yoU Drop (RTUD). I suggest we go for a handicap of your published year to date average meters. If that delivers a silly result (i.e not me winning) then we should change the rules

As a matter of process I suggest posting the day before your intention to do it and then posting the result the following day. The handicap is the average meters BEFORE you start erging.

So, puff up those pillows (for the seat) and start pulling.....

Mike

I'd be interested to see when he "drops". (or when you finally get tired of telling him to row!)

Hi all

Congrats Daren on 1million.

Niall, Good work matey. I'll be happy for 1.45 for my set of four 500 metres by Sunday.

I like the year to date average figure as that brings my handicap down somewhat, which is good for me. I'll probably do mine early next week.

Is there a target pace we have to do this at or do we just leave that to the individual conscience?

Back to normal service tomorrow. Will do a 12.5k in the morning and then in the evening do a 4x500m with 2 min interval at around 1'48".

Bedtime.
Bernard

I certainly wouldn't want Dwayne setting the target pace that's for sure!!

Hi

I felt a lot better for not rowing last night and this morning's row went very smoothly. My times are falling and my stroke feels as though it is being grooved nicely.

I managed 12.5k, but tonight is the killer 4x500.

I think I'll follow Speedy's lead and do my row til I drop on Saturday. I'm going to ignore conventional wisdom and row in front of the telly or with music on, because I feel boredom may be the enemy and I'll stop before I'm tired.

Niall, sounds as though you're in for a good row in Enfield.

I must crack on.
Bernard Pru.

Good luck to Speedy and Bernard this weekend with the "Row 'til You Drop" challenge. Nice steady pace guys, no heroics! Saying that, I suspect Speedy's steady pace would be my heroic pace
