Great to see you back in the seat. Look forward to seeing you move up the team standings ladder!

You'll be doing 10Ks before you know it and then the odd HM I'm sure! You're right not to push it though. Restraint now will pay dividends in the long term.

Hi all

I slept a little too well last night. I missed my 6.00am call, but trust me, I don't feel one pang of guilt that I did. There is nothing like a good night's kip. Hopefully it won't be too long before I adjust physically and neurophysiclly and I just have my usual seven hours in the land of nod.

I felt a little tired this morning but not stiff, which was a pleasant surprise. Rowed 6k this morning. It's amazing how much you lose after a layoff. In my warmup I will usually do some drills, like just arms, half slide and then full pelt for 10 pulls.

Usually on the full pelts I see 1'22" for at least one pull. I was hoping for about 1'18-1'19" about now. The fact is I saw only one sub 1'30". Oh hum. It's getting tough already not to pick up the pace, but that's just my natural competitiveness trying to get me into trouble.

Hopefully, I'll start to see 1'22" again by the end of next week.

Later
Bernard

I need to sit there with him the entire four minutes telling him to keep rowing. Or should I say keep pumping your arms. His legs are to short to come into the equation.

Did you grow up there?

Other than my time in the Army, I lived in California all my life until we moved to Boston last year. Rowed 7k tonight. Everything seems to be on course. I don't feel exhausted either. Still I'll resist the temptation to up the pace for the next couple of weeks. Just get used to hard work again.

According to my machine I have rowed 23916 metres these two days, which I guess isn't so good. but I aim to be doing 10k in the morning and 10k in the evening on from Monday and a half marathon next Saturday. Then I should be ready for my 2x1hour daily rows.

So that means 8k twice tomorrow and 9k twice on Sunday. Steady does it.

good night all
Bernard

Hi Chippy and Taffs,

Yes, been a bit quiet on the Oz front lately, nothing much happening except for ticking along at the gym with the 'squad', logging up my Ks to try to keep Byron in sight! In a bit of a lull after all the PB attempts and finding it hard to raise the enthusiasm for the 500m, 1K and 2Kers. how about doing that 6:50 at Enfield Chippy to fire me up

Great to see you back Bernie and getting stuck into it and ready to resume the friendly rivalry on the metres board with Niall. He's on a strict training schedule to break 7 mins for 2K by ??? so there's an opportunity to catch him up with some long rows. Don't feel too disheartened by a lack of 1:22 pulls, I haven't seen a sub 1:30 yet in 2 years of erging

Nice to have Carla fired up now the long hot summer is drawing to a close, how far is a Mt Washington bike ride by the way? Just need to energise Godfried/Jasmine/Mike Z and the big K regulars will all be back in harness.

Q. Which of the D's willl be the first to 1 Million - Debra or Daren

A. ???

Cheers,

Martin

Hi all

I went to bed at 11pm last night and woke up at 9.30am. There could have been a nuclear explosion during the night and I would have slept through it. I rowed 8084 metres this morning - this makes a round 32000 metres on my new rowmobile. I finished just in time to watch the continued annihilation of the Aussies at the Oval[cricket]. Sorry Martin, I had to mention the fact that the ashes are coming home!!

I hope to be going under 7 minutes before BIRC. Much will depend on where this first month of distance work takes me. Hopefully, injury and illness apart, my base fitness should be up to allowing me to do the real power endurance stuff. We'll see.

My max pull improved to 1'25" this morning but then I was really pulling in anger during the warmup. Still it shows that I haven't lost as much as I thought.

Speedy, I have to give you the most respect because I don't see how you can row so many metres day in day out with absolutely no side effects.

Must watch the cricket
Bernard

Hi

How do I go about getting/buying Taff shirts, all in ones etc?

I rowed a total of 32k on Saturday and Sunday. I start the 10ks for a week tomorrow morning. My sleep patterns seem to be returning to normal.

This is the quietest I've ever known this thread. I could swear I can hear my postings echo.

regards
Bernard
