I have renewed belief in myself after this mornings sesssion. Gonna seem like a little story now so brace yourselfs or just scroll past lol!

Got up at 5am having had 3hrs sleep. Night before agreed with couple others to get out on the water early. I am normally absolutely terrible in the mornings, detest them with a vengance!
6:30 on the water did about 8K in a pair, of which did a 1800m piece, and a 1K piece. The 1K piece was recorded at 2:58 which is stupidly fast, espec as we weren't rowing that fast or hard, especially me, and technically poor! So it can't be a K - need to find out what distance this is! However, this time is 10seconds faster than the novice 8 I was in last year! Yikes!

Then after did a 6K erg @ 20spm. Came in at 20:45.4, 21spm, 1:43.8. Kept looking at the split thinking this cant be right, feeling very powerful and finding it very comfortable and waiting for something to give but it didnt!. Think I could have held onto this for half an hour easy, or gone sub 1:43 for 6K! Water work is really paying off with the power! Very chuffed and slightly bemused, ie: in morning - normally very poor then, after water work to!

Which brings me to a question, if I can generate say 1:44 for half an hour at 20/21spm,, what should I pulling at higher spms, say 28? Find that I struggle a lot cv wise when I rate higher, and I didn't today at 21! Any wisdom / advice would be much appreciated!

Yesterday I did a 5K at sub 1:49 in the morning that was reasonably comfortable, then a 6k in the evening at 1:52... 60 mins at about 1:54 is target for today.

Made weight now, and slowly bringing the times back down (still quite a bit to go)... But it's finally all coming back together again!

Yesterday I was going for a hard 30 minute session and was settling in comfortably in the zone. I was ready to wrap up the last 8 minutes when my towel caught the rollers while at the catch and jammed it on the rail, dead. I did not really know it until I drove without my seat coming with me and landed right on the rail! Ohhh. As a fan of good slapstick, I had to laugh a little, but I was mad at the same time. It is the weirdest feeling to have things go wrong on the erg. It is liking having your bed collapse in the middle of the night or something. I rowed out the last 8 minutes easy and then recomposed and did a 10 minute session at the same hard pace.

Oddly this is probably how I should have structured my workout in the first place. I was going a little too fast for a training pace.

Sounds terrible. At least I did have a valid excuse to stop rowing.

I used to listen to CD's on my stereo to get some attitude during a trial. That was until the one day I got a unrelenting skip about 8k into a 10k. I do not know what was worse, the rowing or having to listen to a loud CD skip with some remote hope it will end the madness.
