At UCB, in the 40s, it was simply crew and the other expression was always good for a laugh. I swam and played water polo. The erg room was next to the pool and I always heard the strangest sounds coming from there. It sounded like a torture chamber. Now I know what the torture was!!!

Anytime!
- Sunday mornings with the crew (team)
- Tuesdays afternoon 2- with Polaco
- As often as I can 1x in any free minute
- I use to erg and have pulled many of my PBs during lunch break!
The toughest are my runs after dinner (I often run until midnight) ...
So there's no right answer for me in this poll...

Please note the Spanish translation for the times:
Morning: 08:00 (and this is quite early!)
Lunch time: about 14:00
Dinner: about 22:00

So for us anything between 23:00 and 07:00 is a "night row"

About 80% of the time I row first thing in the morning. That way I only have to take 1 shower a day

This topic reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw:

ROWAHOLICS ANONYMOUS
My support group meets at 6:00AM on the river!

Well I will give it try from now on also - get up at 6 a.m. and go for a row. I am sure it will give me a hard time for decisions first thing in the morning until it becomes a habit - but the issue of only one shower per day also sounds convincing to me. Lets see.....I will keep you posted.

So I didn't know how to vote, either.

I wonder how I could manage this - but in the morning I gnerally feel so weak that I can not really get going. What are your tricks? Is my blood pressure just too low in the morning? How could this be overcome? Any good suggestion is welcome.... or do I just go to bed too late to be fresh enough for a morning row? How many hours do you generally sleep to be fit enough for as morning row?

Thanks in advance for your advise.

My tricks to getting up early to row ...
1. I go out on the water. There is nothing like being out on the water when the sun comes up. I wake up and think about being out there and just can't stay in bed. During the week, when I can row before work (June, July and part of August), it is fantastic. (In the winter when I erg, it is real easy to stay in bed and wait until I can erg to "Car Talk" at 10am)
2. My wife gets up earlier than I do and goes out walking.
3. I occasionally row in the evening, with the high school crews and the power boats. I like the high school crews with all the activity in the boathouse and on the river, but the powder boats remind me of why I like the mornings.

bw
