The "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining" has to do with Ranger's reason for not racing at the BIRC. I had posted that on the other topic and copy/pasted it here.

Why do some people think that anyone needs an excuse not to race?

jesus!!

If you don't want to race then so what!!!!!!!!!!!

No one needs to explain why they raced or did not.

no one owes anyone anything in this sport. Thomas--

I guess I still don't see the need for this discussion.

As I have said, I didn't feel physically ready to row at BIRC; I didn't yet have sufficient control of my new stroke, and I don't like to row when I am not ready.

You say you don't believe this.

Why?

There are only two possibilities.

(1) You think I _did_ have full control of my new stroke.

(2) You think I didn't have full control of my new stroke, but you think that, for whatever reason, I should row even if I am not ready.

Questions:

Which one of these is the case?

If (1) is the case, what is the basis of the claim?
If (2) is the case, explain further why you think so. Personally, I think it is entirely reasonable not to race if you are not ready.

Excuse me, but it seems to me that it is just raining on your leg; but for whatever reason, you are so pissy (in general) that you are claiming that the rain is piss, too!

ranger

I agree. No one has to explain why they may have gone to BIRC 2004 and decided not to race. However, Ranger decided to explain why he did not race and therefore allowed himself open to scrunity.

On the accomplishment side, this topic thread would not be the place to list what I have done. For what it is worth, let's say I don't row at all. I don't do any sports. I have never done the sport, but I have a lifestyle that is oriented toward having to push myself during adversity, perhaps when I don't want to or I am not expecting it. And it just so happens while I was surfing the internet one day, I came upon this forum. After reading some of the topics and reading about the pyschological and physiological aspect about the sport of rowing, I determined that the rowers, regardless of their speed, are people who appear to push themselves during periods of misery, privation, and poverty. Then I come upon the reasons why one rower attends BIRC 2004 and did not race. I disgree and state so. I get lectured. I respond.
