Thanks grams and pamcnm for the great ideas! Anybody out there with computer know-how? That sure isn't my area. I'm gonna paddle over and check out our team standings now!

As far as my training goes, I'm still hoping to do a marathon. My trainer has me increasing my distance piece every other week by another 2K. This Sat. I'm scheduled for 25K. During the week I do one night of speed intervals and two nights of 10Ks. My "off" Sat. is 15K. That ought to keep me busy! Oh - did I mention? I lift two nights a week with one of those combined with cross training. Whew!

Later,
Buffle

Yippee, Judy!! You've boosted the ducks to #80 in the standings. Note: You may have to log out and then back in to see new members who have joined since you logged on.

Bufflehead: Judy is a speedy duck. What's that beautiful diver that drops from the sky like a rocket? I think that's Judy!

Please count me in too!

I've only been erging for a couple of weeks but I'm completely addicted.

I'm a 39 year old heavyweight living north of Seattle in Washington State.

I love the name "ducks in a row" ...

I just signed-up, and we are now at #79

QUACK QUACK QUACK

Oh boy - the speedy diver duck. I'm gonna have to think about that one for a while! Welcome aboard everyone! I can't believe we've moved from #298 this morning to #80. Way to go ducks!

If I don't drag myself away from this computer, I'm never gonna get any work done!
This has suddenly become very addictive! I sure have more incentive to do my 10K tonight.

Wow, we're on a "row"ll now! Sorry, poor attempt at humor!

Ok, just curious, what do most of you average daily for meters? weekly? etc? Notice some of you are powerhouses cranking the meters out.

Hi snappyrower and susan!

Glad to have you! We are indeed moving up in the world!!

I don't think I've ever tried to figure out what I row on the average. My previous post will give you an idea of where I am right now. I failed to mention about off time, though. For now, Sundays are my consistent off days. I also take Friday off if it falls before a long row session. That makes my weeks a little crazy for now. For instance, last night I had to do the lifting session at the gym and still had to come home and get my 10K row in.

Now, mind you, I didn't start out like this. In Jan. of 04, I could barely manage ten minutes. I just kept at it, and then a half hour didn't seem too bad. Once I realized that there was a website, I really got the push to improve my distances. I like being able to compete in my age group. (Notice I didn't say speed!)

Now that I have my own C2, the longer distances are easier to do. It was a killer spending all that time at the gym. Now I can at least turn on the TV and have a little distraction! Bottom line - we all have to start somewhere.

Keep up the good work!
Bufflehead

How many of you compete in the indoor rowing competitions? I'd like to eventually although it might be a while before I'm comfortable doing that.
HI all.
I'm a total newbie at this but I'm loving it. I just signed up for the ducks. This will really help with motivation, I think. I started erging on 1/27 and I did my first 6K last night. It felt great. I was worried about it but now I'm thinking that a 10K is really possible for me.
Rachel

OK. I'm a duck.
Cannot recall those sleek diving ducks we once saw rocketting around at Monteray Aquarium. Are those the speedy ones you were after?
Will consult my bird book and then choose a name. But first I have to go erg - or is that egg?
BTW, is the club name "ducks in a row" or "Ducks in a Row"? Or does it matter? I found in the list, and joined, the fomer (all lower case), but only found three members listed... If *case* matters, are we splitting ourselves up?
Just learning how to float on this website/forum... And is there a way to access the club rankings without going into one's profile?
Thanks ducks!
Quack,
Marisa
a row ma

Welcome to the newest ducks - seagulldc and arowma!

I originally entered our name as Ducks in a Row, but I noticed that it changed to lower case. I sorted the teams alphabetically, and we aren't duplicating ourselves. So - I guess that means that case isn't important. (Maybe Harly knows the answer to that one.) I believe you have to log out and then back in again to see new members. I see eight names listed as of this post. And - we've moved up to #77! All in one day!

Good job Ducks!

If all 8 of us are there, case doesn't matter. Kewl!

If you go to Logbook and click on the Summary stats link, you can view your meters by the week. This will help to answer snappy's question.

It looks like I've averaged 38,435m per week so far this year, more during Challenges and bad weather weeks, less in the spring and summer when I'm doing more outside.

- Harly (the pretty Harlequin .... duck)
