Went over 8300 for a half hour yesterday. Could have easily blown it by going out too fast but stuck to the plan- 9 minutes at 1:50, 9 minutes at 1:49, 9 minutes at 1:48 then went for it for the last 3 minutes. Result was 8314......JonW

8202m in 30min and if my life depended on it I could have gone a bit further. Previous PB was 8087 I believe, a bit old.

Next goal is 8300m....that one will be tougher...

Carl- Way To Go! 8300 can't be too far away, though you may want to aim for 8250 first. Do you tend to go steady state for the whole 30 minutes? JonW

18:51.9 for 5k, 23 spm, second of two with 5 min rest between. Old best was 19:15, a few months back, at 24 spm.

I know, one of these days I'll have to get the stroke rate up where it belongs, but these are training rows for now. Still in that part of the erg learning/conditioning curve where PB's come quickly and the drops are big, and not looking forward to leaving it!

Peter

Looks like the PPS is improving, sub 18:30 next for you. You should be able to do that at 25spm now I would of thought

Well done

Sir Pirate

c2jonw,
Thanks, I did it pretty much even paced. I set no time or distance and just decided to go at 265w for at least 4k, it turned out I did more than the double. The mental approach suited me good and I felt strong physiqually. The last 4 minutes my breathing got "rushed" a little but no intense hyperventilation like I do when I am all out. I just felt I had to stop a some point, and it wasn't too comfortable the last minutes (understatement) . I actually had many points ahead of me where I thought I would stop, but when I reached them I felt I might as well do a minute more...and then....the same thing again, and again...and again

Yes, perhaps I should choose the intermediate goal of 8250m. That will be nice to aim for. A bit closer in time.

ps
I went evenly at 264.3w average until a few minutes left, then I increased current wattage slightly to 270 or so. Don't know exactly. I began playing with the display modes to make the time pass faster. 15 sec att calories, 15sec at meters passed and so on.

I got my C2 a little more than a week ago. My first attempt at 500m was 149.6 on the day it arrived.

Today I did 146.9 and it felt much better. That's encouraging. The log card showed HR was 182. If I can knock off about three seconds each time I try, I'll be down to a world record eventually. Heh, heh.

Byron
