To me it means that each 250m interval would have a recalled average pace of 1:36, the 250m rest periods would be completed in at a 2:30 avg pace (or just make the rest intervals 1:15 on a PM2 or PM3) and there was no time away from the Erg except that which did not exceed the rest period.

Exactly. I batched them in groups of 20, though, and as I remember, I took five minutes or so between batches--to get water, to change seat pads, to restart music, etc. I did indeed program the PM2 to the rest time and (as I remember), I recorded all of the times and reported them here on the US forum, all 80 of them.

As I remember, I recorded and reported all of the 500s, too.

ranger

They bring out the best in me.

Rich:

Perhaps the most valuable nugget (for me) that you've posted.

Once I took this attitude (just recently) I couldn't wait for "tomorrow" to attack the next step (workout) in getting better. The journey becomes the satisfaction. The journey is what it's all about. And when you find people who feel likewise, and can communicate with them about this, it's a blast. It's work, but it's not "work".

Anecdotally, Saturday, after racing a 2K (with 2K warm up and 2K cool down), I pulled a 6K PB and then could not stay off the erg and did a 30' piece at a pretty brisk pace (for me). In one day I did the kind of meters that once (just a few months ago really) were my total for the week ... and it felt awesome.

I can only imagine what it must be like to have done this (and much more) for years ... the level of fitness that could be achieved would be quite amazing.

Thanks!

-- Mark
What are your goals and how fruitfully have you been moving toward them? At one point, you said you were interested in taking on the 50s hwt WR. Are you still working towards that?

ranger

They are indeed now possible, given my improved technique.

ranger

Perhaps you could bring some facts along to support your claim.
I'm sure it was you that created a whole thread just to question my credibility. (Do you consider that a personal attack?)

The only thing that has been consistent about your behavior is that it is inconsistent.

Perhaps the lack of meat in your diet has caused some sort of physiological instability with psychological side effects, please get a check up and heed the advice of credible experts, it will help you. They are on no exact schedule. They aren't said lightly, though. There is indeed evidence for them. And so far, the hunches I have had in the past have indeed appeared and been done, exactly as I have thought.

As I mentioned, I would guess that I will indeed do a low rate marathon pretty soon, and following closely on that, a pb marathon (by a considerable margin) at a somewhat higher rate. As I have been rowing lately, 1:54 @ 17 spm would be my old pb and might be a good pace and rate for an initial whack at this; 1:49-1:50 @ 21-22 spm might be a good rate and pace to try for a new pb.

How's _your_ rowing coming along, George?
