WE DID IT!!!! We passed MIT!! Woo hoo!

Happy New Year everyone. Don't indulge too much. There are a lot of meters to row still to pull further ahead of MIT.

Hey, Andy and Robert - did you guys just do a HM or something?! Andy you just smoked past me!

Take care of that pink leg Carole! Make the best of this down time - Enjoy the New Year celebration!!

Carla, lucky for you that the scale didn't go up. Unfortunately, I can't say the same. I have to balance out the rowing and the stress eating better! Tons of essays and assignments to write in the next month.

Debra

Debra,

I'm sure when I put the new batteries in, the scale certainly will go up! It always says "lo" when the batteries are dead.

Carla

Looks to me like Bernard's put in an hour of rowing as his total's increased by 15K today (see Bernard, I'm still keeping an eye on you matey !).

Great job guys!! As Debra says, it's important we put as much daylight between us and MIT while they're celebrating the New Year. With 40 team members they're gonna be looking to claw back that 5th position from us.

Guys, I am thinking of attempting the marathon for the first time in a couple of weeks and thought I would try and do this to raise money for the Tsunami relief fund. Has anyone attempted to do this sort of thing before (not the marathon!) and be able to offer advice on the best way to do this? Is it a good idea?

Please feel free to PM me or reply on here with your thoughts. I have friends in Sri Lanka and felt I just had to try and do something.

Warnie.

The best way for people to sponsor you is to use the Just Giving site, as they can use their credit card so you can get donations from all over the world. We used it for our MAD Team 100k last year and many others have found it to be the best way of getting people to sponsor you.

http://www.justgiving.com/Statements/ar ... br>
You can set up your own personal webpage saying what you're doing and what it's for. There's a list of charities who are involved. See the link above to find out more.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Jon
I would totally agree with what Jon suggests. I've often found doing a charity event is the easy bit, getting the money in is the hard bit. Sites like www.justgiving.com make it easy for people to donate money from anywhere in the World. The easier it is for people to donate, the more money you'll collect.

Let us know when you've got yourself set up (or if you want any further help) so we can start pledging our support.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, once I get something set up I'll let you all know. Looks like it will be either a week Friday or Saturday. Just feel it's right to do something.

Taffs,
We've pulled out about 200k in front of MIT. That can disappear in an instant however, so let's keep it up. I think the next goal should be to try and catch Team Oarsome by the end of the season.

Speedy
