Wearing special performance gear really helps on the erg, doesn't it? Hope it was a "coolmax" nightie.

Tendon is a bit better, I'm still being careful. Got a season's best by 18 seconds the other day on a 5K but was a little sorry the next day (not a PB, just the best in this so far pitiful season!)

Carla

I hit a new record for my HR today. I was over 190 bpm for the last 250m of a 6K. I finished at 192 bpm. Not bad for a guy 48 years old? This record isn't all that good though, since my time for the 6K was some 50 seconds off my PB. (I died halfway through.) I think that I was a bit dehydrated from working out in the yard and that caused my HR to be higher than normal.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

Most of my workouts are still at the UT1 level (140 - 148 bpm) right now. I Will be getting into some higher intensity stuff over the next three weeks though. Kind of looking forward to it to see how my body responds - I too have been rowing semi-regularly for about six months but haven't done anything higher than UT1 for a couple of months or so.

6k 23:11,2 ( 1:55.9 / 500 ) , was 23:30,1 ( 1:57.5 / 500 ) ( aug 25 ).

Just like the HM of aug 27 I tried a constant pace ( now 1:56.0 , then 2:06.0 ) and go a little faster or slower when I strayed from the wanted pace. I lost .2 from3k to 4k, but gained .3 with a sprint in the last k ( same gain in the last part of the HM ).

Mark; 500m intervals for the 6k:

heart rate:
148 155 158 158 164 165
166 167 170 171 174 175

average:
1:55.6 1:56.5 1:56.2 1:56.0 1:55.1 1:56,5
1:56.9 1:56.6 1:56.4 1:56.5 1:54.9 1:54.1

Mark, how did you determine your UT1 level (140 - 148 bpm)?

Next to do: some easy work; it looks like I'm trying to overdo it.

The test maxed me out at 184 bpm, which interestingly enough is exactly the same as the 220 minus your age rough approximation.
I believe the C2 training guide here http://www.concept2.co.uk/guide/guide.php provides the details on the MHR test. New 30 minute PB- 7907 m (from 7840). I had 8000 in my sights but caught my tshirt behind the seat (dammit!!!!) and lost a little time untangling myself. Tucked in, from now on.

Andrew

New 2k PB of 6:39.5. I Beat my old one from two months back with 8 seconds.

Splits:
1:39.5
1:40.5
1:39.9
1:39.6

I might have been able to go a little faster in the end, I didn't make any attempt on a finishing sprint...except for one pull that was weaker than average so I decided not to try to alter the rythm I was in. I was quite content with the result to be and quite tired at the end as well!

6:40 was my goal for the end of the summer. I put it up after having been sick in january/february with a very slow recovery (overtraining?). In the beginning of July I barely beat my PB from december (6:47.8), and now 2 months later I have reached my goal. That is great.

6:30 after off water season (april/may) is my next goal....

Going back to some long distance training now...then maybe some strength and more long distance...some races with preparations this winter.

I hope to win the unofficial swedish lwt 500m championships in february as well. It's a small sport here so if I can pull 1:23 I will have a good chance.
