Newest duck in the pond checking in here! I'm starting at the bottom of our team rankings, I know, but I'm building endurance so I can FIRST lengthen my rowing time, and then I'll add speed.

I'm glad for the ducks! This is so much more fun than just rowing all alone out there... its a BIG POND.

What tips for stretching before/after a row? I am now up to 3,500 meters at one time (a HUGE step for me, believe it!)

Quacking you all a happy holidays.

Holiday Challenge... Going for 200k. On Day 13 (early Tuesday afternon) I am at 129,000. Should get in another 4k today. I want to average 10k per day so am doing 11k per day now just in case I run into a problem down the line. It looks like most people are rowing more than they were. Holiday Challenge is a great idea.

Ellen

Welcome rhorva!

I found training pages on both the US and UK concept2 site.

This has stretches on page 8-10. It is a pdf of the training manual that you get in the US when you buy an erg.

http://www.concept2.com/05/rower/servic ... pdf

This page has various other things like 24 workouts (in case you get bored after the HC)
http://www.concept2.com/05/rower/servic ... ing

The UK site has two training manuals--here the stretches are shown with photos, not just drawings.

http://www.concept2.co.uk/guide/downloads.php
The complete guide is a 251 page pdf (6.1 MB) and the abridged is shorter with "only" 3.1 MB" Alternatively you can just download the individual sections. Section one has the stretches.

Susan aka wood duck

Geesh, all the Ducks are doing great, yay! And Buffle, I'm trying to keep up with ya's. I'm trying to hit the goal by 12/18, too. Just think of me as your "Pace Duck." Are geese the ones that will at least do things in pairs?? Ducks can do that, too.

I've got 110k in so far, because I knew this week was going to be busy. I think Thursday is the halfway point?? Gotta get my tailfeathers moving!

Rhorva, keep it up! It'll happen just like you said--the endurance will come, and then you can build the speed factor. You don't want to do too much at first, because this rowing will work muscles you forgot you had. Better to start slow and not get burned out. Welcome to the Pond!

--Jen

Taff Attack is the Welsh virtual indoor rowing team - you don't have to be Welsh to join, just able to find Wales on a map (it helps if you have some tentative link to Wales).
