Mark -

I know you use RowPro. Did you set the L4 workouts up in it, or did you use the program generator that is somewhere on the forum? The program generator must default to creating 40' workouts.

I'm going to alternate shorter (40') and longer L4 and see how that goes. I did a 50' 16-18-20-18-16 this morning.

What % of your meters are L4? I did a little over 60% in January and am trying to get that closer to 70%-75% this month.

Dave
It's likely my inability to use it properly. I just use the PM, and set 10' splits. I get a stroke average and a distance for each sequence. As long as I'm pretty close on distance, and the rate is in the ballpark, I feel good about it. I need to take some time and mess with RowPro until I get it set up properly.

I'd have to go back and look at my meters % for L4s. In any event, I do the workouts as an 8 day sequence ... which I just follow even if I miss a day ... L4/L1/L4/L3/L4/L2/L4/L3 ... and repeat ... ratios of 1:1:2:4 for L1/L2/L3/L4 ... it's a simple way for me to do this, since I'm a pretty simple guy!

-- Mark

I might be moving one of these days, not to Granville, but am curious what you like about it.

When and if I move it will probably be to a more arid climate somewhere in the west.

My wife is with IBM and travels extensively (50% plus). I've had the pleasure of being "Mr. Mom" since late 1993, and would not have it any other way. I own my own business, and can pretty much call my own shots ... which is how I can be on here and row as much as I do trying to get up the learning and fitness curves simultaneously.

How did you come to find Granville? Any family connection?

Thought I did a PB today , first for allmost a year.

But I saw I missed it by .3 , today 1:38.2 , PB still is 1:37.9 ( Oct 25, 2004 ).

Last PB is 5k from Feb 7, 2005.

So only 3 days left to complete a no-gain year.

Woke up yesterday and decided to try my first marathon. What a pain in the butt.

I took it slow and had decided to stop for a minute to get up off the seat every 1/2 hour after I had rowed for the first hour. The first hour went by. My bum was sore. I rested. I carried on to the next half hour mark. I stoppped and rested, but after that my bum was too sore to continue. What a bummer.

As I had rowed at a slow pace I didn't even feel as if I had a work out.

I copped the flu very badly last May and it has taken me till now to get back to the level of fitness I was at then (or it may be the level of motivation)

So, yesterday afternoon I tried a 2000k for the 1st time in months and I cracked it. I came in at 7:51.2 and I know I can go faster because I slacked of a bit at the end when I saw my heart rate hitting 180. Next time I'll leave the HRM off(my prevois best was 7:58.9).

I then hunted around on the rankings. Divid Moores from South Africa and I rowed online together the day we broke 8min for the 2k. I got a bit of a shock. He's on 7:28.5 I've got a lot of catching up to do. Will I ever catch up?

I think I spend more time reading this forum and playing with RowPro, than I actually row.
