Out of the blue, woke up decided today was a 60min trial.

New PB of 16288m @ 1:50.5 29 spm and 130df , getting over the previous 1:52.1 quite well. Started off at 1:53 pace for first 5 mins, 1:52 next 5, 1:51 next 5, and then stuck at 1:50 thereafter with a short 5 min flurry at the end around 1:47 to 1:45.

As usual, the mental battle was the issue - cajoling myself to keep going at my designated pace when I lost concentration etc etc

Bit annoyed at the end when I missed 16300 by 12 m! - grrrr. An hour afterwards I'm feeling very chirpy and up, so that 12m is even more annoying

Thanks Paul. Rate is fine for me, maybe manage 26 spm but nothing higher for that amount of time, drinking I agree, I just didn't feel the need to drink at all really, just thought I had better have something just in case. I've got a bit of competition from someone with extremely similar times, and my mark has just been beaten, might try another one this weekend and sort out my drinking system, maybe even raise the rate a bit.

Set a target of 2:39:00.00 (1:53.0)

10 K 46:20.0

I'm a fitness rower, so I decided to do the 10 k for the experience and to try not to finish last in the rankings.

I never rowed so long so a lot of strange things happened, physically and mentally.

At the end, my hands hurt from holding on to the ore. After a while I got into the rhythm and I my stroke became gracefull, like a tai-chi movement (at least that's how it felt to me ). Then fatigue settled in and movements where less fluid.

I had to figth it out in my brain. I wanted to stop and postpone my attempt , take a rest etc. I still managed to finish in 46:20.

I'm sure I could manage some time around 45 min if I stay focused. I definatly will try some more long distance rows, just for the pleasure of feeling absorbed in the movement during the midle part of the row.

So there it is, my litle PB, not as impressive as the real athletes, but a enriching experience for me.

Guido,
I think there are many here who aren't 'real athletes' (including me), but if you can keep up an exercise for over 45 min that is very good. 10 km is a long way to go. Congratulations.

Was thinking of doing a 2k, but i decided a 6k was in order. Since I havent done one in a while. And this coming up fall season is head race season (5k+) and in winter season we do monthly 6ks. I figure I'll focus on my 6k's and 10k's until around February when 2k season comes around. How does that sound?

anywho, 6k was 25:28.22 25spm. The last 6k I did was 26:01.

BTW, stats are :

15y.o
male
59kg
5'5
