Hi Ducks,

I just wanted to announce to everyone that I finally reached my first million today. I got up at 3:00 so I could get it done. I thought I had reached the million but after entering my meters I found I was about 200 short so I had to hop back on to get it done! Yoo hoo. I am never going to be able to announce any amazing fast times since I am not fast, so this is it for me. Thanks everyone for your inspiration from this site.

Shari

Yay Shari! Congratulations! Don't worry too much about the speed, a million meters is a feat in itself!

Way to go - all you ladies with PB's!!!
Doesn't one million feel great? I don't have fast times either, but it sure has been fun seeing how far I can go.
You haven't heard much from me lately because most of my meters are on the water for now. But - never fear! I still read all your posts daily. It helps to get me moving on days when I don't feel like it.

Keep up the great work everybody!!
Ye Old Buffle

I did my first 2000 meter row of the season this morning - 10:21.7 minutes. I ranked 57 of 71 in my category. I'm going to try to improve my time every month on the 20th. I've decided to do what my husband does: a 500 meter ranked workout on the 5th and 2000 meters on the 20th. Those coincide with my pay days so it's a payoff in so many ways!

My latest PB is that I just joined the Ducks team! Had a little codependency thing going on and didn't want to abandon my other team (U New Mexico), but the reality is they don't need my meters, and I was missing that ever so important girl-support!

I'm off to a bit of a slow start this season, as I was bicycling around England for a month in May and June, but the goal is to work my way up to the 10K boards (pant, pant). Anyone want to join me? Trying to increase my average daily meters by 100 meters a day...

I'm sooo to be a part of the team!

Deb Ford

Welcome aboard Deb,

It looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me to keep ahead of you on the Ducks standings! I am having a great time trying to keep up to Ellen Dollar. It is so much more fun being part of the Ducks, compared to just rowing your metres in a solitary way.

Shannon aka Canada Goose

Hot diggedy dog! I just ranked a 30-minute piece...6936m. I improved by 100m over last season. And the weird thing is that I'd been on my feet for a 16-hour shift at work yesterday, I hadn't eaten anything yet, and I wasn't really trying to do anything fast when I started out.

I wonder what I could do with rest, fuel, and being fast from the start...

Sheesh! I like this getting better as I get older stuff!

Deb

Thought I'd try a 10k ranking session this evening. Last 10k I ranked was back in May at 53.29.0, but based on my 12k rating yesterday I knew I could do faster than that. Set the pace boat at 2.25, but ended up averaging 2:19.3 over the 10k to give a time of 46:25.2 and a position of 17th of 41 (compared with 36th of 41 previously)

Next goal is to get 1k ranked piece under my belt as I will then have scores for all of the nonathlon events for the season. Then my 60 minute distance needs some work. No rest for the wicked ....

Tired, happy, ready for supper and my bed!

I had a good week. On Labor Day (Monday 9/5) I did a 1/2 marathon. My second one ever. The first time I did it was at the end of the 2005 season. Now I want to try to do one on every three day weekend and then do a full marathon at the end of this season. Anyway, my Labor Day 1/2 Marathon was a personal best in that I cut 10 minutes from my April time. I still didn't break the 2 hour mark, though. I will try to go below 2 hours on Veteran's Day November 11th. That also happens to be my mother's birthday who passed away in January this year. It may be an emotional day for me, so we'll see.

I try to do a 500 meter ranked piece on the 5th of every month, but since I did the 1/2 marathon on the 5th, I did the 500 meters on Tuesday. And I had a personal best with that, too! I did it in 2:13.1, beating my last time by 4 seconds. Pretty good since it was just the day after my 2 hour long work out!

Then, every week I do "Thirty-minute Thursdays" where I try to better my last week's distance in a 30 minute ranked workout. This week was not a personal best, but I did beat last week's distance. And it was my 46th birthday! Following the two PBs from earlier in the week, I accepted that as a pretty good week.

I ended up taking the next two days off rowing, but got back in the saddle today to "just row" 6000+ meters. I'm trying to move up the Annual Meters Honor Board and get into the 5000+ category. I'm on page one of the 2500+ list and movin' on up!

Good for me! Thanks for letting me toot my own horn!
