Hey Paul,

That's a great idea, and you could even change them while rowing.

I just bolted on a seat from a lawn tractor. It has no back, but a cushy suspension seat that is as high as the stock seat (had to make a bracket for it though). Maybe there is an aftermarket shell seat or some other seat that would make the perfect indore rower seat. Just a thought.

There was a link on here about the seat being in two parts.

Does anyone happen to have it bookmarked or remember what the name of the link was?

Thanks.

I think you also need a tin-foil hat.

The solution I found (suggested to me by another rower) was to go to a local bicycle shop and purchase a large-size gel-filled "exercise bike" seat cover.

It is big enough to lay flat on the rower seat, without modifications required.

I can row for hours without excruciating seat area pain, where it used to become painful after 30 minutes or so with the other cushions I tried.

With the gel-filled seat cover, I'm "gellin'" while rowin'

Happy rowing.
An improvement would be to get rid of the upslope in the back, and have it either be level or else slope slightly downward.

The improved ventilation between pads is definitely good.

Ventilation "through" the pads would be even better.
