Hi Graham
Good job.
From what I remember you are not a water rower. Where did you learn the rowing motion. Is there a video clip somewhere?
1:37.7? But you still cleaned his clock.
What was your sport before you picked up Erging?
Did you take part at the 100K world record with John Goodall?
XENO

I saw a pair of trainers by the side of his ergo

30mins r20 at 1:37.7?

Xeno, firstly - pleasure even speaking to you on a message board! Very honoured.

I have been water rowing since Easter - my technique on the ergo was pretty poor when I first started 3 years ago and then got a bit better and now is pretty reasonable I think. I'm sure the water rowing has helped me groove my current stroke which seems to be extremely consistent in terms of power per stroke now.

Before erging I was a fairly decent cricketer, which is not a very demanding sport physically, and a gym boy - have always trained with weights a fair bit just out of vanity.

And yeah, I did the 100k with Jon Goodall and the MAD boys - nailed 1:08 or quicker on every go which was very pleasing.

Oh, and Andrew Hodge did row barefoot which amazes me.

Do you know your aerobic threshold
Do you work with your heart rate watch?
Cricket, were you an endurance athlete ever before rowing?
What is your mileage per week rowing?
Do you cross train?
Do you do endurance weights?
The reasons for these questions are simple. I am thinking of Jamie Schroeder and other very gifted athletes with tremendous amounts of stamina for rowing/erging . My focus is to figure out whether the type of training Rob Waddell and I did, would bring you monsters (meant in a good way) down to 5:35 or even 5:30.
Have you had your VO2max tested?
My VO2 on the bike was 7 liters, and on the erg 6.5 L. The test was done at different times during my rowing career on different VO2 machines.
That is it for now.
XENO
