I think I have some of that stuff in the *** DELETE - SPAM *** junk drawer. It just caught me so completely by surprise. I got back on, but my concentration was gone.
I know what you mean as I generally don't like being coxed. I guess I just said a few words to just let you know that we were still there. There was definitely no grudge. Carie and I met in the warm-up room prior to the race and compared ailments. She just happened to be in slightly worse shape than I was on the day. I went with a fixed race plan and the win was unexpected! We won't compete against one another in Boston for another 4 years now, thanks to the new age groupings.

At the end I suggested to her that she had deliberately thrown the race to get the monkey off her back and return it to mine. I was enjoying being without the weight of it and anticipated another relaxed season without it.

I know what you mean about noisy coxes, Roy. I'm used to Ed the "horse-whisperer" and many times there have been intrusions from other people's coxes. One chap used to stand behind Karon and I was tempted on more than one occasion to put the handle down and assault him.

We might might be back into the territory in which US/UK interpretations are different. The term Grudge Match or Rubber Match is generally used here in a lighthearted manner when two competitors have previously met twice before and each haas one win. The "Grudge" or "Rubber" match determining who takes the lead at 2-1. Carrie Graves made it clear on the webcast that nothing be goodwill existed between the two of you.

It wan't meant any more seriously than the bantering I see on the UK forum between say, Hywel and Dan Staite. At least I have been assuming that their exchanges were all in good fun. I didn't mean to offend. Really.

Rick

Obviously a case of a common language dividing us, Rick! "Grudge" has a rather negative nuance here, and seeing as how I'm very GOOD at holding grudges . . . . . . . . . Haven't heard of a Rubber Match here though. By your definition the next meeting should be the grudge match - the score is currently 1-all.

No offence taken at all - reply was firmly tongue-in-cheek. Don't know about Dan and Hywel as I don't read the Forums much.
